Advanced Vitiligo Treatment and Surgical Solutions
Vitiligo is manageable with the right medical approach. I focus on restoring your natural skin tone through safe, evidence-based treatments ranging from targeted laser therapy to advanced cellular transplantation.
I believe in explaining procedures clearly so you feel comfortable and informed. This video walks you through the steps of melanocyte cell transplantation, a surgical technique I use for stable vitiligo. We use your own healthy skin cells to restore color to affected patches, a method that can cover a large area and provides excellent cosmetic results.
This patient saw a significant restoration of skin color on her face after undergoing Excimer laser therapy. This treatment is highly effective for targeting specific, stubborn patches of vitiligo by using a focused beam of light to stimulate repigmentation.
This video demonstrates the vitiligo needling technique, a procedure I perform to transfer pigment cells from the border of a patch to its center. It is a meticulous process where a specialized needle helps initiate the repigmentation process, often used in combination with other therapies like Excimer laser.
It is very important to understand that vitiligo is not contagious. You cannot get it from touching someone, sharing items, or through any other form of contact. Spreading facts helps us overcome the social stigma associated with the condition.
This before and after image shows the results of NB-UVB phototherapy on the chest and abdomen. This is a safe and time-tested treatment that involves exposing the skin to a specific wavelength of ultraviolet light to encourage repigmentation. It is a reliable option for various cases, including for children.
Friends, part of my mission is to help advance vitiligo care everywhere. Here, I am inviting fellow dermatologists to a surgical workshop. By sharing knowledge on techniques like melanocyte cell transplantation, we can collectively improve treatment outcomes for all our vitiligo patients.
For cases where vitiligo affects a majority of the skin, depigmentation therapy can be an effective option. This treatment helps to even out the overall skin tone by lightening the remaining pigmented skin, as you can see in this patient's successful transformation.
Hearing from my patients is the greatest reward. Their satisfaction with the results of their vitiligo treatment is a testament to the personalized care and dedicated approach we take at my clinic.
About Featured
Many patients ask if surgery is an option for every patch. The reality is that we only perform procedures like melanocyte cell transplantation on stable vitiligo, which means the area has not changed or spread for at least one year. This stability is the most important factor in ensuring the procedure gives you long-term results rather than temporary coverage.
Vitiligo, often referred to as Safed Daag, is a manageable condition rather than a life-long barrier. My focus is on evidence-based dermatology. We start every journey with a detailed assessment using a Wood's Lamp and Dermoscopy to map the exact extent of depigmentation. This diagnosis allows us to determine if your skin will respond better to medical management or surgical intervention.
For stable patches, I specialize in non-cultured Melanocyte Cell Transplantation. This surgical process involves harvesting healthy pigment cells, processing them to create a concentrated suspension, and applying them to the white patch. It is highly effective for covering larger areas. For smaller, stubborn zones, I often use a combination of needling and 308nm Excimer laser, which stimulates your own melanocytes to reactivate without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue.
I also provide NB-UVB phototherapy, which remains a reliable, non-invasive standard for many of my patients, including children. My practice is built on transparency. If a treatment does not suit your specific case, I will tell you. There are no magic fixes, but there are proven medical pathways to help you regain your natural skin tone.
