About Major Concerts & Fusion Performances
When booking a large-scale ensemble, please note that we require a dedicated 60-minute sound check prior to the event. This time is essential to balance the sitar’s delicate acoustic harmonics with the electronic keyboard and percussion, ensuring a studio-quality sound throughout your venue.
Grand Sitar Symphony & Fusion Ensembles
My approach to large-scale performances centers on the Grand Sitar Symphony, an orchestrated setup I have developed to bring the sitar to the forefront of modern concert stages. This 7-piece ensemble includes myself and three associate sitarists, supported by a professional tabla player, a keyboardist, and a rhythm pad percussionist.
By layering multiple sitars, we create a harmonic depth that traditional solo performances cannot achieve, making this ideal for wedding receptions, corporate dinners, and cultural galas.
The Fusion Experience
While my foundation remains in Indian classical music, I believe that music should evolve with the times. In these ensembles, we blend:
- Classical Ragas: Orchestrated for a group to maintain the purity of the tradition.
- Cinematic Medleys: High-energy arrangements of classic Bollywood and popular Kannada film hits.
- Contemporary Fusion: Rhythmic collaborations that cater to diverse, modern audiences.
Production Requirements
Because these performances involve a full band setup, I work closely with event organizers to ensure technical specifications are met.
- Tech Rider: A professional PA system is mandatory, including a 12-16 channel mixer and 8+ microphones to capture the distinct sounds of each instrument.
- Staging: A raised platform is required for the visibility of all seven artists, ensuring the audience can appreciate the interplay between the lead sitar and the accompaniment.
