I am deeply humbled by the recognition my work has received over the years. These moments, from media features to professional memberships, are gentle reminders of the beautiful journey I am on as a student of music.

I am truly honoured to be invited by my peers to join the Recording Academy's Class of 2025 as a Professional Member. It is a humbling recognition from the institution that hosts the Grammy Awards.

This was a very nice interview that appeared in The Pioneer newspaper. I was impressed by the journalist's thoughtful questions, which led to a deep conversation about my musical journey and philosophy.

A lovely photograph taken by my dear friend and photo editor of India Today, Bandeep Singh, during the India-Japan conclave. It's always a pleasure to be captured by such a talented artist.

An excerpt from my interview with India Today, where I speak about the spiritual connection between Indian and Japanese classical music. Music is a universal language that allows us to converse beyond words.

About Awards & Media Recognition

It is a special honour to be invited by my peers to join the Recording Academy’s Class of 2025 as a Professional Member. Beyond such awards, the conversations I share with journalists and artists—like the deep exchange I had with India Today regarding the spiritual ties between Indian and Japanese music—are what I treasure most, as they allow me to share the joy of our rich cultural heritage.

Music is a language that goes beyond words and alphabets. Whether I am sitting for an interview with The Pioneer or discussing the universal language of notes at the India-Japan conclave, my goal remains the same: to share the joy of the Maihar Gharana. It is never just about the headlines. It is about the dialogue.

When I speak with journalists, I am not just talking about myself; I am talking about the legacy of my Guru, Pandit Ravi Shankar, and the importance of music education through our foundation, Sangeet4All. Seeing my work in publications like India Today is not just a personal milestone; it validates the effort we put into bridging traditions, whether it is blending sitar with cello or teaching children to find their own voices in Ragas. This recognition gives me the platform to keep doing what I love, with the people I love, and to ensure that the music keeps reaching hearts, young and old. If you are interested in exploring the world of classical music or beginning your own journey, these articles provide a window into the philosophy behind my teaching and performances.

My name is Shubhendra Rao, and I live for the dialogue that happens between the strings of my sitar and the heart of an audience. I am grateful to be a student of the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar and a guide to my students at Sangeet4All, where we make music a part of every child's life.
