Traditional Munj Thread Ceremony Decoration

A Munj, or thread ceremony, demands a sense of dignity and tradition. When I design a Munj stage, I look at the space you have and bring in elements that feel authentic. My most popular theme is the Maratha warrior setup. This includes a 12ft to 15ft wide flex backdrop printed to replicate the brickwork and architecture of a palace, combined with life-size cutouts of Mavale soldiers that bring a sense of history to the event.

I focus on the tactile elements too. I use fresh Marigold and Rajnigandha garlands for the stage borders because the scent and color are essential for a traditional ceremony. The setup typically includes an ornate Maharaja-style chair for the main rituals, flanked by a decorative chaurang and pat for the sacred thread ceremony.

Because I build these props in my own workshop in Pune, I can customize the scale of the décor. Whether you are hosting this in a large banquet hall or a more intimate home space, I ensure the layout is practical and respectful of the religious rites involved. I handle the entire installation, from the floor-level floral rangoli to the lighting that highlights the props, so you do not have to worry about the logistics on the day of the function.
