About Himalayan Escapes: Snow & Serenity
Filming in minus 30 degrees in Spiti is a different beast entirely. You need a setup that handles rapid battery drain and lens fogging, which is why I use a mix of hybrid Sony mirrorless setups and drones to get the wide landscape context without losing the raw, human emotion of the journey.
The Himalayas demand more than just fancy gear. When I am out there, whether it is chasing the Milky Way at 14,000 feet or capturing a convoy of bikes snaking through Ladakh, the priority is always the story.
My approach to these escapes is simple: I don't just shoot, I document the vibe. I use 10-bit D-Log footage to make sure the colors of those turquoise rivers and snowy peaks look exactly how they felt in person. For mountain expeditions, I bring a full kit including drones like the DJI Mavic 3, which is essential for showing scale in places where ground shots just cannot do justice to the sheer size of the mountains.
If you are planning an expedition or a bike trip, I don't just act as a cameraman. I plan the shots around the golden hour and help direct the team so the final film looks like a proper cinematic project, not just a travel vlog. From the chaotic fun of a group trip with strangers to the quiet, spiritual moments at ancient monasteries, my goal is to give you a memory that feels as alive as the mountains themselves.
