Art is a form of tapassya (devotion) that heals. I conduct workshops for children with special needs and individuals fighting illness, using art to bring joy, peace, and self-expression to our community.

Anju started painting for the first time as a new hobby during her radiation therapy. I love her curiosity, enthusiasm, and courage to take up art as therapy.

Anju proudly holds her finished painting of a field of tulips. Her journey is an inspiration, showing the healing power of art.

I spent three wonderful days at a beautiful location in Landour, conducting workshops for amazing kids. It was heartwarming to be surrounded by their pure love and creativity.

I was honored to be invited as a judge for an art competition organized by the Lions Club of Juhu for more than 30 BMC school children.

The winners of the art competition proudly display their artworks based on themes related to Gandhiji and India. Their talent was truly impressive.

A moment during the judging process, where we carefully reviewed the wonderful and creative artworks submitted by the school children.

The members of the Lions Club and I discussing the artworks. It was a fun afternoon with super energetic children.

A group photo with all the participants and winners of the art competition. It was a day filled with creativity and community spirit.

The prize distribution ceremony at the inter-school art competition, celebrating the talent and hard work of the young artists.

It was an incredible time hosting an art workshop for the amazing children from Mann, a center for individuals with special needs, supported by the Rotary Club. Their limitless imagination was truly inspiring.

About Art for Healing & Community Outreach

Watching a student like Anju, who took up painting during her radiation therapy, find strength in every brushstroke reminds me why I do this. Whether it is working with special needs children at the Mann Center or hosting workshops for BMC school students, my focus remains on the process, not the product. We create a safe environment where you can let go of daily stress and just breathe.

For me, art is not about perfect lines or technical mastery. It is about finding a quiet corner in your heart. When I partner with NGOs or centers like Mann, the goal is never to create a masterpiece. It is about providing a sensory experience that allows individuals to express emotions they might otherwise bottle up. My sessions are designed to be accessible to everyone. We use simple mediums like watercolors, clay, or charcoal that remove the fear of making mistakes. For corporate teams or community groups, we bring all the materials, from the easels to the paints, to your location. The joy on a child’s face when they finish an artwork—whether it is an eco-friendly Ganesh idol or a simple canvas painting—is my true reward. I offer these sessions for individuals looking for stress relief, groups wanting to bond, and organizations dedicated to social good. If you are looking to host a session that combines creativity with a deeper purpose, let’s talk.

Hi, I am Shefali. I have been teaching art since 1988, but my students are the ones who have taught me the most about life. I believe in a gentle, non-judgmental space where art becomes therapy—a way to find your voice and heal. Every workshop I lead, whether it is for a corporate team or children with special needs, is rooted in the simple belief that everyone has a story to tell through color.
