Authentic Shorin-Ryu Seibukan training in Bangalore. We do not play games or chase trophies here, we refine movement and character through the rigorous, traditional study of kata.

This video shows the execution of Suto Uke, or knife-hand block. I demonstrate the precise body mechanics, hip rotation, and hand positioning required for this fundamental defensive technique in Shorin-Ryu.

Here I am demonstrating a posture from one of our core katas. A stable stance and correct hand position are critical for generating power and maintaining balance.

Practicing a fighting stance in front of the Shureimon gate at Shuri Castle in Okinawa. This location is deeply connected to the history of Okinawan martial arts, and it is an honor to practice there.

About The Heart of Training: Kata & Technique

My sessions are structured around the precise biomechanics of Shorin-Ryu. You will not find generic fitness drills here. Whether we are correcting your hip rotation in a stance or refining a knife-hand block, I provide direct, technical feedback because true progress in karate comes from understanding the specific mechanics of every movement, not just repeating them blindly.

At my dojo in Jayanagar, karate is practiced as a martial art, not a sport. The focus is strictly on the Okinawan lineage of Shorin-Ryu Seibukan.

The Foundation of Kata

My teacher Grand Master Zenpo Shimabukuro often stated that kata is the basic of karate. It is not merely a sequence of choreographed movements. It is an encyclopedia of techniques. When you practice kata under my guidance, you are learning how to manage your center of gravity, generate power from the hips, and maintain structural integrity during every block and strike.

Technical Precision

Every session involves deep dives into fundamentals. You will hear me correct angles, for instance, requiring a precise 45-degree engagement to maximize defensive efficacy, and emphasize the path of a punch. We use traditional Makiwara striking posts for conditioning, which helps you understand the impact and resilience required in authentic training.

Who Should Train Here

If you are looking for a quick fitness fix, this is not the right place. My students are those who seek discipline and character development. The training is rigorous, and I require total dedication to the Dojo Kun principles of respect and truth. Whether you are a beginner learning your first stance or an experienced practitioner refining your Kobudo forms, you receive the same level of direct, corrective instruction.
