About this collection
When I set up an art picnic in a park, I bring large-scale floor canvases that act as a shared foundation for the whole group. Kids aren't just painting side-by-side; they are reacting to each other's marks, learning how to share a surface, and seeing their individual ideas become part of a giant, evolving masterpiece.
The best part about moving art outside is the sheer permission to be messy without worrying about furniture or carpets. Whether we are at a local park or a community festival in Bangalore, these picnics act as a low-pressure zone for families to engage in process art. Because the setup is large and horizontal, it breaks down the barrier of 'can I draw' that often stops kids from starting.
Everything I bring, from washable, non-toxic paints to sensory bins, is designed to be fully explored. I often use non-standard tools like spray bottles or fly swatters to help kids move past the fear of the brush. We focus on movement and collaboration; a shy child who might hesitate at a desk often finds their confidence when they see a peer adding a splash of color to the corner of a ten-foot mural.
If you are planning to host one of these for a community group or just want to join a public meetup, the logistics are simple. I handle all the floor protection, site setup, and the inevitable cleanup afterwards, so you can just focus on the creative time with your kids.
Scribble Space
I founded Scribble Space because I believe art shouldn't be confined to a neat desk. In these outdoor sessions, I love watching kids get comfortable with being messy in a park, away from any pressure to draw things correctly.
