Hands-On Saree Draping Workshops
I teach the art of draping through practical, interactive lessons at my studio. Whether you are a beginner or want to refine your pleating, we will work together until you feel confident draping any fabric.
A glimpse into one of my professional saree draping classes. You can see my students getting hands on experience, from learning the theory to practicing ironing and pleating techniques themselves.
I am so proud to showcase the work of my students from a recent one day class. They learn quickly and are soon able to practice pleating and draping on their own, creating beautiful results on the mannequins.
Every class begins with the fundamentals, including taking correct measurements and preparing the saree by ironing the pleats. Here, you can see my students and I working through these essential first steps.
This video shows a typical session where I demonstrate a draping style for a student. I believe in showing each step clearly before my students practice, which helps build their confidence and skill.
About this collection
In these sessions, we do not just watch. We do. You will spend hours with professional mannequins, mastering the iron and learning the specific pinning hacks I use to keep heavy silk sarees secure for hours. You get to practice on real fabrics until the muscle memory kicks in.
Learning to drape a saree is a skill that changes how you carry yourself. In my studio, we break down the complex art of traditional draping into manageable, step-by-step techniques. I focus heavily on preparation because a perfect drape happens before you even step into the saree. We cover professional ironing methods that protect delicate zari while creating crisp, sharp pleats that do not collapse.
My workshops cover a range of styles. For beginners, we start with the standard 6-yard Nivi drape, focusing on equalizing pleats and pinning them securely for all-day comfort. If you are aiming for bridal expertise, we move into advanced territory: the 9-yard Madisar styles, Can-Can fusion for modern lehenga looks, and body analysis to determine the right pallu length for different heights.
I provide synthetic and silk practice sarees during the session so you get a feel for how weight and texture influence the drape. We also tackle the business side of things. I share tips on how to handle travel kits, manage client consultations, and build a portfolio. By the end of our time together, you will have moved from watching me to performing every step with confidence. Whether you want to dress yourself for weddings or start a career in bridal styling, these lessons are designed to make sure you leave with a finished skill set.
