The Interior Design Process: Bringing Your Vision to Life
A home is more than its final look. Explore the journey from initial sketches and material boards to the hands-on site work that makes a design uniquely yours.
Behind every finished space is a journey of inspiration and creativity. This video shows the process of building a moodboard, from selecting paint swatches and fabric samples to reviewing architectural drawings.
The design process always starts with material. Here, I'm holding samples of a beautiful burl wood veneer and textured panels. These choices set the tone for the entire space before the walls even go up.
A space you will actually want to come home to starts here. This moodboard combines a tropical-themed wallpaper, a light wood sample, and a "Lightest Sky" Pantone chip to create a feeling of calm and escape.
This video shows the satisfying transition from a space filled with plastic-covered furniture to a beautifully revealed dining and living area. It's a glimpse of the moment a project finally comes together.
A day at the Sage Haus studio is a whirlwind of creativity. This video shows our desks covered in paint swatches, material samples, and architectural plans as we flip through catalogs and develop our design concepts.
This animated floor plan shows the thoughtful spatial design for a San Francisco home. It illustrates how a flexible partition can divide a large area into two separate but connected living spaces for two brothers.
Every design begins with a vision, but it is on the construction site where ideas truly take shape. This video shows "Project Aspen" in progress, with workers on scaffolding and raw materials waiting to be installed.
A quick look at the finished "Auburn Project," a 4000-square-foot apartment in Gurugram. The design is modern yet approachable, refined but oozing comfort, with each space reflecting the personalities of its residents.
This video captures the journey of "The Auburn" project, from a raw, dusty construction site to a thoughtfully designed and beautifully finished home, complete with art and styling.
A look at what has been happening lately at Sage Haus. From sketching initial ideas and reviewing technical drawings to client meetings and material selection, this is how we bring our concepts to creation.
About The Design Process: From Vision to Reality
Most people see the final room, but the real work happens in the decisions made before the walls go up. We focus on technical blueprints and material selection first, ensuring that lighting points and cabinet details are locked in before any construction begins. This approach saves time and avoids guesswork once work starts on-site.
Our design approach is built around transparency and clear communication. We believe that a home should reflect how you actually live, not just look like a showroom.
Discovery and Planning
It starts with active listening. We map out your daily routines to create layouts that work for you, not against you. We move from initial sketches to detailed space planning, testing transitions and furniture flow until the logic of the home feels intuitive.
Material and Technical Detail
This is where the vision gets grounded. We spend time on material boards, selecting everything from marble and wood veneer to the exact shade of wall paint. We also finalize technical drawings, covering electrical layouts, plumbing, and custom joinery plans. These GFC (Good for Construction) drawings are essential. They tell the contractors exactly what to build, down to the millimeter, so the end result matches the plan.
Execution and Site Supervision
We do not just hand over plans and walk away. During the renovation or new build, we are on-site to handle the messy reality of construction. Whether it is coordinating with artisans for custom woodwork or checking the magnetic track lighting installation, we ensure the site matches the drawings.
Why it Matters
Design is about solving problems. By focusing on the technical side like waterproofing, conduit placement, and regular site visits, we ensure the final result is not just beautiful, but durable and easy to maintain. We handle the coordination, so you don't have to deal with the chaos of the construction process alone.
Sage Haus
I am Somya, the founder of Sage Haus. I believe your home should feel like a personal sanctuary, not a showroom. We work as a team, debating and sketching until we find the layout and material palette that truly reflects who you are.
