Meet the Sage Haus Team & Our Philosophy
We believe your home should feel like you, not a showroom. Meet the team behind our designs and explore the principles that guide our work.
Welcome to our latest project in Gurugram. In this video, I explain how we approached the client's brief for a calm and personal home, using a "less is more" mindset to create a space of quiet, confident elegance.
People often ask about my design style. The truth is, I don't have just one. I mold my designs based on each client's personality, creating everything from ultra-contemporary to neoclassical homes, all with a common thread of timelessness and elegance.
In this rapid-fire Q&A, I share some of my favorite things in interior design, including my go-to trend (statement marble), my favorite pattern (checkerboard or stripe), and my favorite way to elevate a space (layered lighting).
Ready to elevate your bathroom? Here are five of my essential tips for creating a spa-worthy experience at home, from using slot drains and ceiling exhausts to playing with day-to-night lighting transitions.
As we say goodbye to all-white kitchens, here are three kitchen interior design trends that are here to stay. I discuss monochromatic color schemes, the juxtaposition of marble and dark wood, and the use of statement metal finishes.
Here is my number one design trend prediction: color drenching. This technique involves painting the ceiling the same color as the walls to create a visually dynamic, dramatic, and cozy, cocooned vibe.
In this video, I share more of my design trend predictions. I believe we'll see a big return of patterns like stripes and plaids on large furniture, as well as a resurgence of glass bricks used in versatile ways like for shower cubicles.
Meet me, Somya Malhotra, the studio lead at Sage Haus. I'm an architect with a specialization in Spatial Design from London, and my design style is eclectic, layered, and focused on creating timeless designs that tell a story.
This is a glimpse of my process at the office. Here, I'm arranging material samples and fabric swatches on my desk, working to create a cohesive and tactile palette for a new project.
Design is not a solo job. This photo shows our team brainstorming ideas together, pointing at a screen and collaborating to ensure every project benefits from our collective creativity and expertise.
About Meet The Team & Our Philosophy
Design is rarely a smooth, linear process. At our studio, you will often find us debating layouts, shifting material samples across our desks, and sketching until we hit that specific 'aha' moment. We bring that same transparency and collaborative spirit to every project, ensuring your home is a reflection of your personality rather than just a collection of current trends.
At Sage Haus, we define ourselves by the spaces we leave—calm, minimal, and deeply personal. We started with the simple conviction that a home should not shout. Instead, it should speak in a quiet, confident tone. Our team is a mix of visionaries and detail-obsessed architects who believe that 'less is more' is not about creating boring or cold environments; it is about creating sanctuaries.
Our Design Philosophy
We avoid the trap of designing for the season. Our approach to modern residential interiors centers on timelessness. When we sit down to plan a new build or a renovation in Delhi, we are not looking at what is popular on social media. We look at light sources, the natural flow of your daily life, and the textures that make a space feel warm. From Italian marble and custom joinery to concealed doors and smart lighting, we focus on the hardware and the finish because that is the 'jewelry' of your home.
The Collaborative Process
We are not a studio that hands you a plan and disappears. We prefer the messiness of the process. We share our mood boards, layout experiments, and even the debates we have in the office. We want you to be part of the journey. Whether you are looking for an architectural overhaul or a complete luxury interior fit-out, we approach the work with a 'less is more' mindset, ensuring that every architectural line and every fabric choice serves a purpose. We believe in repurposing where possible, using our imagination to turn awkward layouts into smart, custom-planned living areas.
Sage Haus
I am Somya, and I founded Sage Haus because I believe your home should be your sanctuary. My team and I focus on quiet, confident design—think texture, light, and personality rather than trends that fade in a season.
