Indian Folk and Spiritual Art Commissions
Bringing age-old traditions to life on canvas, terracotta, and wood. I create custom spiritual and folk art that holds meaning for your home and celebrations.
This video shows the progress of a Rajasthani couple painting, a theme close to my heart. I use rich acrylic colors to capture the emotion and cultural details, creating a timeless piece of folk art for your collection.
Watch as I paint a traditional Pichwai elephant, a symbol of royalty and strength. This piece, created on a puja peetha, was part of a bulk order for return gifts, showcasing how traditional art can be a part of modern celebrations.
The final, satisfying step of varnishing a Pichwai lotus painting. This protective glaze not only makes the colors pop but also ensures the longevity of the artwork, which was designed as a set of return gifts for a naming ceremony.
An old terracotta pot gets a new life with this painting of a graceful Rajasthani dancer. This is an example of how I blend folk art with upcycling to create unique decorative items.
A glimpse of the beautiful, bejeweled idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra from my personal collection. This art form from Odisha is a deep source of inspiration for my spiritual and folk art pieces.
About Indian Folk & Spiritual Art
I don't just paint on canvas. Whether it's a traditional Pichwai lotus on a wooden puja peetha or a Rajasthani dancer on a terracotta pot, I focus on the technique—layering heavy-body acrylics and using 3D outliners for that intricate jewelry detail. Every piece is varnished twice to ensure the colors stay vibrant, whether you are using it for a naming ceremony return gift or keeping it as a spiritual centerpiece.
My work in this space is driven by a desire to keep Indian artistic roots alive while making them part of our modern homes. I find deep inspiration in the traditional Pichwai art form, which focuses on lotuses, cows, and elephants, and the vibrant, storytelling quality of Rajasthani folk art.
How I Work
Every commission starts with an idea—yours or mine. If you want a Radha-Krishna piece for your puja room or a custom peetha for a wedding ceremony, we start by discussing the size and the surface. I work with cotton canvas stretched on wooden pine frames, terracotta, and even recycled wood.
The Process
For my folk art pieces, I use artist-grade acrylics. The process is precise:
- Preparation: I prime the surface carefully so the paint sits right.
- The Sketch: I draw the lines free-hand.
- Detailing: This is where the 3D outliners come in, adding the metallic, jewelry-like texture that gives these pieces their distinct look.
- Protection: I apply multiple coats of high-gloss or matte varnish, which protects the work from UV fading and dust.
This makes the art durable enough for semi-outdoor areas like covered porches, not just interior walls. I also handle bulk orders for festivals and naming ceremonies, ensuring design consistency for every single piece in the set. If you have an old item at home, like a glass bottle or a terracotta pot, bring it to me. I love giving old objects a new, folk-inspired life.
