Kitchens and Bathrooms Designed with Soul by Richa Bahl
Kitchens are for gathering and bathrooms are for retreat. I design these functional spaces to be the most beautiful and meaningful corners of your home.
The kitchen is the heart of every Calcutta home, and this one is designed for the joy of food and family. The sage green cabinets and handmade-style tiles create a timeless feel, while the island provides a space for gathering. It’s a kitchen where memories simmer alongside everyday meals.
In this Calcutta home, we designed each bathroom to have its own personality. This one features a playful mix of pink and patterned black-and-white tiles, creating a space that feels both vintage and modern. Bathrooms should be mood-lifters, and this one is full of joy.
A luxurious master bathroom in our Saratoga project, designed to feel like a private spa. The freestanding tub sits under a large window, and the walk-in shower is lined with beautiful green tiles. The vaulted wood ceiling adds a final touch of rustic warmth.
We went bold in this Dhaka bathroom with rich red walls and vibrant patterned tiles. Paired with vintage-style fixtures and lush greenery, the space feels dramatic, personal, and full of character.
A glimpse into the Calcutta kitchen, where a bright red toaster adds a pop of color. The large window looks out onto the garden, flooding the space with natural light and making it a beautiful place to start the day.
A bathroom in our 'Inde Blue' project, seen through a doorway. The design uses a palette of deep green, black, and white, with a mix of geometric and subway tiles to create a look that is graphic, modern, and soulful.
This bathroom in the Calcutta home features a warm, earthy palette. The terracotta-colored tiles, carved wooden mirror, and a potted plant create a space that feels grounded, natural, and calming.
About this collection
I look at kitchens and bathrooms as the most intimate rooms in a house. We go beyond simple tiles and fixtures to source materials like original terracotta or hand-painted ceramics that fit your personal story, making sure your daily rituals feel like a warm embrace rather than just a functional task.
Most designers see a kitchen as a list of appliances and a bathroom as a sequence of plumbing needs. I see them as the pulse of a home. My process starts with understanding the rhythm of your life: how you brew your morning coffee, where you like to sit, and what textures make you feel calm.
Whether we are restoring a heritage home in Calcutta or designing a modern apartment in Dhaka, I focus on the interplay of light and material. We use tactile elements like lime plaster, reclaimed wooden beams, and patterned cement tiles to create character.
My approach is highly collaborative. I work with you to source unique finishes, ensuring that every corner of the room reflects your journey. We handle the technical coordination—from plumbing layouts to structural changes—so you don't have to worry about the heavy lifting. The result is a space that is not only highly functional but deeply personal, turning your morning and evening routines into moments of quiet joy.

I do not believe in standard design rules. I listen to how you live to create bathrooms and kitchens that feel like personal sanctuaries, blending heritage textures with your own story.
