Celebrity Sanctuaries & Soulful Interior Design
Designing for these individuals was never about creating a showpiece. It was about listening to their stories and shaping personal sanctuaries where they could finally just exhale, away from the noise of the world.
Alia Bhatt's home was about creating a space that felt like a quiet hug. This tea bar became her favorite corner, a simple, warm, and personal nook designed for comfort and conversation, not for performance.
Parineeti Chopra's home was a study in balance. She wanted clean, monochrome lines but also a deep sense of warmth and coziness. This living room, with its large windows and comfortable seating, is a minimal yet layered space that is filled with her easy, joyful energy.
When I started working on Dia Mirza's home, it was a space waiting for a soul. We layered it with her personal art collection, art deco details, and contemporary comforts to create a home that is a true reflection of her grace, warmth, and quiet strength.
This home for Kangana Ranaut was one of my earliest projects, a space that blended her Himachali roots with a Mumbai spirit. We used rustic beams, slate floors, and a hand-aged palette to create a home that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
The entryway to Alia Bhatt's home, featuring stained-glass doors and a white-washed brick wall. The design was about creating a simple, warm welcome, a space that felt personal from the moment you stepped inside.
A quiet corner in Parineeti Chopra's home. The design is minimal but warm, with pops of color from the yellow floor cushions and the natural greenery. It's a space that feels calm, balanced, and full of her personality.
The dressing room we designed for Alia Bhatt. It's a space that is both highly functional and beautifully personal, with a classic vanity mirror, ample storage, and a touch of color that reflects her vibrant spirit.
About this collection
Designing a space for a public figure isn't about luxury labels; it is about the quiet, often tedious work of digging through vintage markets for a specific Art Deco handle or adjusting the lighting until the corner feels like a hug. Whether it is a tea bar for Alia Bhatt or a rustic Himachali-inspired bedroom for Kangana Ranaut, the goal remains the same: we strip away the performance and build a room that functions as a retreat, prioritizing comfort and personal artifacts over visual grandeur.
Building Spaces That Hold Stories
When I start a project, celebrity or not, I ask the same question: how do you live when no one is watching? My work in this cluster highlights the transition from a house to a home. It is about understanding the cadence of a person's life—where they sit to read, how they move through a room, and what objects bring them a sense of groundedness.
The Collaborative Journey
Design is not a monologue; it is a conversation. My projects with clients like Parineeti Chopra and Dia Mirza involved sourcing trips to London and local hunting for the right antique, all to find pieces that carried their history rather than a catalog price tag. We layer these finds with modern comforts, ensuring the aesthetic is as functional as it is beautiful.
Why Heritage Matters
In many of these sanctuaries, we leaned into heritage restoration. By incorporating original elements like mitti walls, exposed brick, and wooden rafters, we create a sense of timelessness. This isn't just about aesthetics; it is about building a foundation that feels lived-in and honest from day one.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do you only work with celebrities? No. My philosophy of 'spaces with soul' applies to every home I touch. Whether it is a 2,000 sq. ft. apartment in Mumbai or a larger residence, the approach to listening and crafting remains consistent.
- How do you handle structural changes? We take care of everything from layout planning to technical coordination with structural engineers. We are comfortable moving walls, changing floor plans, or restoring heritage features to make a space truly yours.
- What is the design process? It begins with a deep dive into your personal story. We create mood boards that focus on emotional architecture, followed by detailed 2D layouts, 3D visualization, and hands-on site supervision.
Richa Bahl
I never studied design formally; I just follow my gut and a deep love for old, storied spaces. My studio is my own restored 80-year-old home in Bandra, and I pour that same intention into every project I take on, celebrity or otherwise.
