About On-Screen Choreography: Music Videos
When we work on a music video, it is not just about steps. We start with 12 hours of studio time at The Dance Temple in Goregaon West to lock in the hook step, then coordinate directly with your DOP to make sure the camera angles and formations hit perfectly. You are not just getting choreography, you are getting a partner who cares about the final cut as much as you do.
My approach to music video choreography is built on three pillars: virality, technical precision, and storytelling.
The Process
We do not just teach moves; we design them for the camera.
- Conceptualization: We start by understanding the track and the artist's vibe. Whether it is a high-energy dance number or a subtle, expressive piece, the steps are designed to maximize screen presence.
- Hook Step Engineering: I specialize in creating hook steps specifically engineered for social media virality. We want your audience to want to recreate the dance, just like we did with the #bananahookstepchallenge.
- Director Alignment: This is the most crucial part. Before the shoot, I work closely with your Director and DOP. We map out formations and movement patterns to ensure they align perfectly with camera angles. We avoid awkward cuts by ensuring the dance flow creates visual rhythm on screen.
