Featured Blood Art Portraits by Ravish Arts
I am Ravish, a self-taught artist from Karnataka. These pieces hold the most emotional weight in my collection, turning deep personal stories into permanent, hand-painted portraits.
This is one of the most emotional pieces I have ever created. A brother wanted to immortalize his elder brother whom he lost 15 years ago. Using the living brother's blood, I created this memorial portrait from a very blurry old photo, keeping his memory alive forever.
There is no better way to show you are a part of someone than with a blood art portrait. This video shows the complete journey, from the safe blood collection to the final brushstrokes, of creating a unique love token for a couple.
It was an honor to present my blood art portrait to Kannada rapper Rahul Dito live on stage during the Kumta Vaibhava 2023 event. Seeing his reaction in front of a live audience was an unforgettable moment and a huge validation of my art.
This video captures my journey to the home of Hanumanthanna, the Bigg Boss winner and folk music star from Uttara Karnataka. It was a privilege to meet him, experience his humility, and see his genuine appreciation for the art I created for him.
A portrait for a 'kuchikkuu', or best friend, is a special bond. This piece was a surprise gift, and the video shows the entire process, including the final happy moment of delivery, celebrating a friendship that is as strong as blood.
As a fan, creating a portrait of 'D Boss' Darshan was a special project. This video shows the careful process of painting his likeness using my own blood, capturing the intensity that has made him a Sandalwood legend.
About Featured
When you commission a blood art portrait, understand that the fresh red ink will naturally oxidize over time. Within a few weeks, the initial crimson settles into a warm, permanent sepia or rusty-brown tone, which is the natural finish of the medium on paper. This shift does not diminish the artwork; it transforms it into a living, changing piece of your personal history.
Why I Choose Blood Art
For many of my clients, a standard photograph or pencil sketch doesn't capture the full weight of a memory. Whether it is a memorial portrait of a loved one who has passed, a token of commitment between a couple, or a tribute to a mentor, blood art offers a visceral connection that other mediums simply cannot match. It is not just about the likeness; it is about embedding a part of your own identity into the art.
The Process and Safety
I treat every piece with the sanctity of a ritual. Safety is my first priority:
- Professional Draw: I do not draw blood myself. You must have your sample collected by a trained medical professional using a purple-top EDTA vacutainer to prevent clotting.
- Hygiene: I wear sterile medical gloves and use sanitized palettes for every session.
- Technique: Creating these portraits takes 4 to 10 hours of layering. I use fine-liner brushes to build up the density of the blood, carefully capturing expressions, hair texture, and the unique details that define a person’s face.
Choosing Your Portrait
I offer two primary formats for these emotional keepsakes:
- Single Subject A4: Ideal for individual memorial portraits or personal tributes. This size works best for single-face compositions and requires about 2-3ml of blood.
- Dual Subject A3: Designed for couples or brother-sister (anna-tangi) bonds. This larger canvas allows me to work with a mixed donor blend, bringing two people together in one frame.
Every order comes framed, ready to hang, and includes a professionally edited time-lapse video of the creation process. This video is often the part that clients cherish most—it shows the quiet, meditative hours I spent preserving their story.
