Elite Cricket Fielding & Agility Coaching
Fielding wins matches. It is about sharp reflexes, solid technique, and being active on the ground. Whether you need to fix your high catch technique or improve your ground fielding speed, we focus on the drills that build your confidence.
Catches win matches, it is as simple as that. For high catches, I teach my players to get under the ball early and give with it, using soft hands. This simple adjustment makes a huge difference.
Knowing when to point your fingers up versus down is a fundamental catching skill. I teach a simple rule: above the waist, fingers up; below the waist, fingers down. This technique improves consistency and prevents injuries.
When catching, your hands must be soft. I instruct players to catch the ball at eye level and absorb the force. For low catches, we practice cupping the hands with little fingers interlocked for a secure base.
This drill is about attacking the ball and getting your body low to the ground. The first clip shows a lazy approach, while the second shows the correct technique: running hard and picking up the ball in one fluid motion.
Dedication means training day or night. Here, a player practices a full-length diving catch during a night session. This is the commitment it takes to become a top fielder.
This is a simple but effective ground fielding drill. Players line up and practice picking up the ball cleanly and getting into a throwing position. Repetition builds muscle memory and confidence.
About Elite Fielding & Agility
Look, catching isn't just about reflex, it is about technique. Most players struggle because they don't follow the simple 'fingers up or down' rule. Above the waist? Fingers up. Below the waist? Fingers down. It sounds small, but this one adjustment is the difference between a clean catch and a dropped ball. We drill this until it becomes muscle memory so you never panic when the ball comes to you. When you join us, we make sure you learn to get your body low, attack the ball, and pick it up in one fluid motion.
Why Fielding Matters
In modern cricket, one brilliant piece of fielding can change the entire flow of the game. You might have the best batting technique or the fastest bowling action, but if your fielding is sloppy, you are only half a cricketer. My sessions at the maidaan are built to fix that.
The Mechanics of the Catch
I don't believe in fancy, complex theories. We stick to what works. Whether it's high catches where you need to give with the ball using soft hands, or low catches where your little fingers need to be interlocked for a secure base, we break it down. We focus on:
- Eye-Level Focus: Catching the ball where you can track it clearly.
- Body Positioning: Attacking the ball rather than waiting for it to come to you.
- Diving Technique: Learning to commit to the catch while staying safe to prevent injury.
Agility and Ground Fielding
Speed between the wickets and on the field is non-negotiable. We use agility ladders, plyometric hurdles, and cone deflections to train your feet to move faster. You aren't just standing around; you are learning to read the ball, sprint, and get into a throwing position instantly.
Training in All Conditions
We train rain or shine. If you are serious about getting into an MCA club, you need to be able to field on wet grass, under lights, and when you are tired. That is the discipline I demand from every player who steps onto my ground. We don't do 'timepass' here; we do hard work.
