A look inside our junior group training, where we use fun games and drills to teach core badminton skills. This approach keeps our young players motivated while they improve their agility, coordination, and on-court awareness.
A group of our dedicated junior players. We foster a sense of teamwork and camaraderie, because in doubles and in training, victory is a synchronized soar, not a solo flight.
This montage captures the energy and determination of our young athletes. From their first lesson to advanced drills, we guide them every step of the way on their journey to becoming skilled badminton players.
Here, a young player works on stroke mechanics and movement with a coach. We emphasize proper technique from an early age to build a solid foundation and prevent the development of bad habits.
Net play requires precision and quick thinking. This one-on-one drill with a junior player focuses on developing the soft hands and sharp reflexes needed to control the front of the court.
Repetition is the mother of skill. A junior player practices basic routines with a coach, reinforcing the fundamental movements and shots that are essential for consistent play and long-term development.
About this collection
We start junior students with nylon shuttles to build proper grip mechanics and stance stability before transitioning to feather shuttles for competitive play. Our focus isn't just on hitting the shuttle, but on teaching the 'chasse' step and split-step basics that allow young players to cover the court efficiently while preventing common injury patterns like tennis elbow.
At Ram Badminton Academy, we treat junior development as a long-term discipline. We avoid the rush to advanced shots until the biomechanics of movement and grip are solid.
Building the Foundation
Every junior student begins by mastering the V-Grip and the ready stance. We emphasize these because poor grip habits formed early are difficult to unlearn. Our coaches use specific ladder drills and cone exercises to develop the hand-eye coordination required for reaction-heavy court play.
The Progression Path
As students master basic stroking mechanics, we introduce the Chasse step and split-step techniques. These movements are the difference between a player who is always reaching for the shuttle and one who dictates the rally. We utilize Multi-Shuttle feeding (20-30 shuttles continuous) to build stroke consistency, ensuring that muscle memory is built through repetition.
Mental & Competitive Readiness
Badminton at the junior level is intense. Beyond physical training, we teach our students how to handle match pressure. This involves:
- Visualization techniques to stay calm during rallies.
- Tactical analysis to identify opponent weaknesses.
- Resilience training for when points do not go their way.
Our goal is to prepare players for the Badminton Asia Junior Championships and other state-level rankings by providing a structured, supportive environment that focuses on technical accuracy rather than just power.
