Experimental Blood Art Portraits and Unique Artistic Explorations
Art for me is an expression that goes beyond standard pigments. These experimental portraits use organic mediums to capture a visceral, deep connection between the subject and the canvas.
An experimental piece: a sketch created using blood on A3 size paper. This is an exploration of a powerful and deeply personal medium.
A painting created using blood as the medium. This process is intense and personal, exploring themes of life and sacrifice through a unique artistic lens.
About this collection
Creating a portrait with an organic medium requires absolute precision. I use archival 300 GSM watercolor paper that absorbs fluid without warping, treated with an anticoagulant to maintain consistency throughout the creation process. Every piece is finished with a specialized sealant to prevent oxidation and organic decay, ensuring the integrity of the portrait remains stable for years.
For many, art is about decoration. For me, it is 'sadhana', a form of spiritual practice. When I create a conceptual portrait using a subject's own organic medium, the intent is to create a physical bridge between the person and the artwork. This is not a project I take lightly; it requires a specific, controlled approach to ensure the piece lasts.
The Process and Safety
Each portrait is created with the utmost respect for hygiene and preservation. I strictly require the organic sample to be provided in a medical-grade EDTA vial, which I then process using anticoagulants and preservatives to prevent clotting. Once the sketch is complete on heavy archival paper, I apply a series of specialized sealants. These act as a barrier against oxidation, stopping the natural decay process and locking the portrait in time.
Why Choose This Medium?
This style is for those who seek to immortalize a memory in the most personal way possible. It is a striking visual statement, often used for deeply personal milestones or tributes where a standard oil or charcoal sketch feels insufficient. Because of the nature of the medium and the drying time required for the sealing process, I only accept a limited number of these commissions. If you are considering this path, we should speak first to ensure the logistics and the 'bhav' (emotion) behind the request are aligned.
Raajan Maluuja
I do not see art as a transaction; it is my 'sadhana' (spiritual practice). Whether I am working with traditional oils or unconventional mediums like blood, my goal is to channel a deeper energy onto the canvas.
