Energy, Movement, and Play Activities for Kids
At Purple Asters, we believe happy, healthy development starts with movement. Whether it is our morning yoga flows or spirited sports days, we keep our little Asters active and joyful.
Our little Asters practice their plank and downward dog poses during a group yoga session. We make fitness fun by incorporating playful movements and poses.
Stretching and reaching for their toes! Our yoga classes are adapted for children, focusing on flexibility, balance, and body awareness in a gentle way.
A moment of calm and focus as our campers practice a seated meditation pose. We teach mindfulness techniques to help children manage their energy and emotions.
The cobra pose is a favorite among our little yogis! It helps strengthen their backs and opens up their chests, all while pretending to be little snakes.
Finding balance in the tree pose. This group yoga activity encourages focus and stability, and it is always fun to see who can hold the pose the longest.

About this collection
We do not do rigid, drill-based routines here. Our yoga and movement sessions are built around pretend play—think 'snake poses' for core strength and 'tree balancing' for focus. It is designed to help children build coordination, confidence, and self-awareness in a way that feels like pure fun rather than a formal class.
Movement is a cornerstone of our 'Multiple Intelligence' approach at our RMV Extension center. When we say movement, we are not talking about simple exercise; we are talking about building a lifelong relationship with one’s own body.
How We Make Fitness Fun
- Playful Yoga: We adapt traditional asanas into stories. Our campers love pretending to be cobras or trees, which helps them learn control and mindfulness without the pressure of performance.
- Rhythmic Movement: From Zumba sessions to Bollywood dance routines, we use music to get heart rates up and energy levels high, which is essential for kids who have been sitting in classrooms all day.
- Structured Sports: Our Annual Sports Day is a highlight, teaching kids about healthy competition, teamwork, and the joy of participation. It is less about winning and everything about the effort put in.
Why It Matters
Our goal is to ensure that children from age 4 to 14 view physical activity as a source of joy. By incorporating these activities into our daily routine, we see children become more focused in their academic tasks, calmer during their 'Happiness Hour,' and generally more confident in social settings. Whether your child is naturally energetic or a bit shy, our teachers ensure they feel comfortable participating at their own pace.
Purple Asters
We are a team of educators who believe a noisy, active classroom is a happy classroom. After 20 years in this field, we have learned that the best way to help a child focus is to first give them the space to move, stretch, and just be kids.
