The Filmmaker at Work: My Cinematography Process
People ask why I roam, but my gear tells the story. Here is a glimpse behind my lens, the tools, the lights, and the chaos of the set that bring frames to life.
A candid shot of me at work, operating a camera with a headset on a professional set. This shows my experience and focus as a Director of Photography during a shoot.
A picture of my new gear, including a Sony Alpha camera and an 85mm F1.4 lens. I believe in investing in the right tools to bring my creative vision to life.
A silhouette of me with my camera on a tripod, setting up a shot against a beautiful beach sunset. This is where I feel most at home, behind the lens.
A shot from a film set, showing a crane with a light set up against a sunset sky. This gives a glimpse into the scale of production and lighting setups I work with.

About this collection
I do not just show up and shoot. Whether it is a TV set or a remote documentary location, I carry my Sony Alpha setup and fast prime lenses to craft that specific cinematic depth. What you see on screen is the result of long hours, balancing natural light, managing heavy rigging, and often working in challenging weather to get that one perfect frame.
Being a cinematographer is not just about the camera. It is about 'jivanada hudukata', the search for life in every shot. When I am working, I am constantly thinking about how to turn a blank canvas into a story.
My Toolkit
I believe in investing in gear that keeps up with my wandering nature. My current go-to is the Sony Alpha and FX series. I use fast prime lenses like the 85mm f/1.4 because I love that creamy bokeh. It isolates the subject and keeps the focus exactly where it needs to be. For production, I use a fully rigged cinema setup with matte boxes and follow-focus systems, allowing me to switch from handheld run-and-gun shooting to stable dolly shots on a dime.
On the Set
Whether it is a commercial shoot in Bangalore or a documentary in the Western Ghats, my approach stays the same: focus on the light. I use portable LED kits to sculpt scenes, adding depth through shadows rather than just blasting everything with light. I am comfortable managing a full crew, using headset communication to coordinate with lighting and art departments so the set moves at the right rhythm.
Why It Matters
Cinematography is a technical dance. It is about understanding color, frame rates, and the environment. When you hire me, you are not just getting a camera operator. You are getting someone who understands the entire workflow, from data management on SSDs to the final color-graded output. If you want a visual style that feels real and atmospheric, let us talk about your project.
