About Posing: The Art of Presentation
You might have a winning physique, but if you do not know how to execute your mandatory poses, you will lose to someone smaller. Posing is a technical skill where we manipulate foot placement, breathing, and muscle tension to create the illusion of width and symmetry. I do not just teach you how to stand; I teach you how to win the lineup before the comparison even starts.
The Science of the Stage
Many athletes spend months dieting and training, only to destroy their placing by missing the details on stage. Posing is not about showing off; it is about hiding your weaknesses and highlighting your strengths. In my sessions, we break down the mandatory poses for Men's Physique, Classic Physique, and Open Bodybuilding.
Technical Breakdown
- Mandatory Poses: We start with the basics. Whether it is the Front Double Biceps or the Back Relaxed pose, each has a specific biomechanical requirement. We work on external rotation of the knees to pop the quads, proper lat spreading without shrugging, and glute engagement to show conditioning. If you are rounding your back or losing width during the Front Lat Spread, you are throwing away points.
- The Illusion Factor: A small waist and a wide V-taper are not just genetics. I teach you how to control your midsection, manage your breathing, and position your elbows to force the judges to see the frame you want them to see.
My Coaching Philosophy: The 3Ds
I believe in Dedication, Determination, and Discipline. Posing is a sadhana (a disciplined practice). It takes patience to learn how to cramp your muscles while maintaining a relaxed facial expression. I do not offer magic pills or shortcuts. We work on your body type, your specific insertion points, and your structural limitations. If your left shoulder lacks width, we adjust your angle. If your quad separation is the standout, we find the foot placement that puts it at the center of the judge's view.
Whether you are a beginner or a veteran competitor, remember this: the judges can only score what they see. Let us make sure they see everything you worked for.
