Advanced Art Masterclasses and Technique Workshops
If you are ready to move beyond basic painting, these deep-dive sessions explore texture, mixed media, and the heritage techniques I have spent years refining.
In my botanical art masterclass, we focus on the delicate art of watercolor. This video shows the process of layering colors and using fine brushwork to create realistic and vibrant flowers, like these tulips and water lilies.
This video shows the satisfying process of blending soft pastels by hand to create a smooth color gradient. My technique workshops cover different materials and how to use them to achieve expressive effects in your artwork.
Control of the hand is a skill that develops with practice. Here, I am demonstrating a cross-hatching technique with colored pencils to create texture and an ombré effect. It is a meditative process that we explore in my drawing masterclasses.
Indian heritage is a deep well of inspiration for me. This video shows the creation of a traditional Indian floral motif, from the initial outline to the final colored design. These patterns are rich with history and meaning, which we delve into during the workshop.
Sometimes art is about letting go and embracing the chaos. This is a glimpse into an abstract acrylics session, where we experiment with splashing, dripping, and splattering paint to create energetic and unpredictable compositions.
About Masterclasses: Deeper Creative Exploration
My masterclasses are intentionally small, usually capped at 12 participants, so I can give you personalized feedback on things like gold leaf application and texture paste layering. We work on high-quality wood panels rather than canvases, which lets us push the materials without worrying about the surface buckling. Bring your curiosity and a bit of patience, because these techniques take time to set and perfect.
These sessions are not about churning out a quick painting. They are about the process. When we dive into mixed media, we spend the time learning how to balance heavy-body gels with metallic foiling, ensuring the texture adds depth rather than just bulk. We often explore traditional Indian motifs, looking at the history behind the lines and how to adapt them for a modern aesthetic.
What to expect in a session:
- Material focus: We move away from basic acrylics to use professional-grade texture pastes, gesso, and wood panels that offer a solid foundation for your work.
- Heritage integration: I share stories behind traditional Indian art forms, helping you understand how to weave these cultural threads into your own creations.
- Slow learning: Whether we are layering watercolors for botanicals or cross-hatching for texture, we focus on the meditative quality of the work rather than the speed of completion.
These masterclasses are held in art gallery or studio spaces, ensuring a quiet environment where you can focus on your technique. I provide all the specialty tools, from palette knives for texture to specialized brushes, so you only need to bring yourself. If you are looking to build a new skill or just want to treat your creative side to something more substantial than a one-off workshop, this is where we get into the details.
