Behind the Lens: How I Capture Your Pet’s Personality
Ever wonder what a pet photoshoot actually looks like? It is usually just me, on the ground, making weird noises while your dog debates whether I am a friend or just a giant toy.
A quick look at a day in the sun during an outdoor picnic shoot. It involves a lot of running, playing, and waiting for those perfect, candid moments.
Behind the scenes of my adventure with Elfie in Goa. From car ferries to boat rides, we go wherever we need to for the shot.
A glimpse into my life as a foster dad. My home is my studio, and my walls are covered with the beautiful faces I've had the honor to photograph.
Behind the scenes with Floyd the Belgian Malinois. It takes a great handler and a lot of patience to capture those incredible water action shots.
A promotional video for the "Petflix" themed calendar I shot for CARE, a local animal rescue. This project was a blast, combining my love for animals and pop culture.
A behind-the-scenes look at my shoot with the majestic Himalayan Mastiffs in their natural environment. It was an unforgettable experience.
This is me, getting a little taste of my own medicine! Laika, my forever puppy, decided my beard needed some grooming.
About this collection
My process is rarely about getting your pet to sit still or pose. Instead, I spend the majority of our session on the floor, tossing high-value treats, using squeaky toys, and waiting for that split second when they stop being a model and start being themselves. Whether we are in a studio or an outdoor park in Bangalore, I let the animal set the pace. If they need to sniff the grass for ten minutes or take a water break, we take it. My job is to capture who they are, not just what they look like.
Photography with animals is a practice in patience. My approach was forged through years of working with rescues, where you don't have the luxury of perfectly trained show dogs. I learned early on that if you force an interaction, the camera picks up the tension. If you let them roam, run, and explore, the camera picks up their soul.
The Technical Side of Fun
While the shoot itself is chaotic and messy, the 'fine art' aspect comes in during post-processing. Every image you receive goes through a rigorous editing process. I perform digital leash removal, fur detailing, and eye enhancement to ensure the final portrait is clean, high-resolution, and ready for print. This is the difference between a blurry phone snap and a piece of wall art you will be proud to hang in your home.
Why I Work This Way
I do not shoot against a backdrop of rules. My outdoor sessions are designed for movement—capturing that mid-sprint excitement or the quiet, steady gaze of a senior dog. For studio sessions, we keep it simple so the focus stays entirely on your pet's expression. Whether I am capturing a shy indie dog to help them find a forever home or creating a legacy portrait for a family, my goal remains the same: showing the world the individual behind the breed.
