Capturing Life Beyond Our Pets

My lens does not just focus on house pets. Whether it is the livestock of the Himalayas, farm animals, or curious garden creatures, I aim to frame every animal's unique spirit.

Two baby chicks sharing a sweet moment in a nest. This was part of a calendar shoot where we photographed baby animals in the style of newborn human portraits.

A curious red-eared slider turtle popping his head up to say hello. I missed the action I was supposed to be shooting, but this little guy was worth it.

A young lamb frolicking in a field of green. Capturing the joyful, boundless energy of young animals is always a delight.

A quiet moment with a lamb in the mountains. The entire herd was nearby, but for a second, it was just this little one and my camera.

A magnificent ram giving me a serious stare-down. The livestock in the Himalayas are just as majestic as the mountains themselves.

This is not a dog! A beautiful sheep with a black face and fluffy wool, the very animal the Himalayan sheepdogs are bred to protect.

A Himalayan mule caught in the golden hour light. The backlighting creates a beautiful halo effect on its mane.

About this collection

Photographing livestock or wildlife requires a different kind of patience compared to a standard pet session. When I am out with mountain herds or smaller creatures, I cannot control the light or the poses. I wait for the animal to feel secure enough to exist in the frame with me. Whether you have a farm, run an animal sanctuary, or just want a unique project documented, my approach remains the same: keep distance, stay quiet, and let the moment unfold naturally.

My journey as a photographer began with dogs, but my curiosity took me further. I found that the same empathy I apply to a pet portrait works wonders with a Himalayan ram, a mule, or a baby chick. Photographing farm animals or wild creatures requires a shift in mindset. You cannot ask a sheep to sit or a turtle to smile. Instead, I observe.

In the mountains, capturing Gaddi sheep or local mules involves understanding their environment. It is about reading their body language. When a ram stares me down, I see a personality that rivals any house pet. My work here is about storytelling without words.

For clients looking for non-traditional animal photography, I bring this same observational skill to your project. Whether you need professional shots for a farm, want to document your rescue animal, or just have a love for species beyond the common house pet, I create images that honor their individuality. These sessions are about authenticity. We do not use props or forced posing. We spend time in their space, ensuring the animal feels safe. Whether it is a studio setup for a smaller creature or an outdoor trek to find a herd, the result is always a portrait that reflects the animal as a living, breathing being with a story worth telling.
