About Timeless Traditional Portraits
These sessions are about more than just the photos; they are an experience in heritage styling. I personally assist with the complex draping of traditional silk sarees—whether your own or from my curated collection—ensuring the pleats and fabric flow perfectly against our vintage, hand-painted backdrops. Because these setups require detailed styling, these sessions typically last about four hours, so plan your day for a relaxed, unrushed pace.
Bringing Heritage to Life
There is something uniquely grounding about incorporating traditional attire into your maternity journey. My heritage-inspired sessions are designed to move beyond standard photography, creating images that feel like they have stepped out of a classic oil painting.
We focus on the aesthetic of Raja Ravi Varma, which means warm, painterly backgrounds, vintage props like brass lamps and carved chairs, and the rich textures of silk sarees. This style is not just about the clothes; it is about the emotion of the moment.
Preparing for Your Traditional Shoot
- Styling Assistance: You do not need to worry about the complexities of draping a Paithani or heavy silk saree. I provide full assistance to ensure the fabric drapes elegantly over your bump and flows gracefully for those signature portraits.
- Attire: You are welcome to bring your own cherished sarees or choose from my studio’s collection of traditional drapes.
- Timing: These sessions are part of my premium experience, requiring about 4+ hours. This ensures we have plenty of time for outfit changes, intricate styling, and achieving that specific 'fine art' lighting without rushing you or your partner.
- Inclusivity: While these sessions are deeply personal, I highly encourage bringing your partner or older children. Including them helps create images that feel like an heirloom, reflecting the love surrounding your growing family.
When to Book
Like my other sessions, the ideal window for this shoot is between weeks 28 and 34. This is when the bump is most prominent, but you are usually still comfortable enough to hold these traditional poses. Whether you are planning this around a specific festival like Sankranthi or Diwali, or simply want a timeless record of this chapter, I am here to help you create something meaningful.
