In Loving Memory: Forever in Our Hearts
The hardest part of rescue is saying goodbye. We share these tributes to honor the brave souls who touched our lives, however briefly, and to be honest about the heartbreak that comes with this work.
Rest in love, sweet Snowy. We adopted this senior girl and gave her a loving home for her last year. She fought so hard through surgeries and chemo, and we will cherish the memories forever. Adopting a senior is a gift, no matter how short the time.
This was Snowy on her gotcha day one year ago. She was abandoned, battling jaundice and cancer, but she was a fighter. We are so thankful for the time we had with her. Senior dogs are the best.
About this collection
When we share the stories of the dogs we have lost, it is not just to grieve, but to show the reality of what senior rescue looks like. Taking in an older dog often means navigating chronic illness or the trauma of abandonment, but it also means giving them a dignified end to a life that may have known only hardship. We do not count the days we have left with them. We count the moments of peace they finally get to experience.
Rescue is not always about the adoption success stories. Sometimes, it involves sitting with a dog in their final hours, managing palliative care, or making the difficult decision to let go after a long fight against conditions like cancer or organ failure.
We do not have a shelter. We rely entirely on a foster network in Bengaluru, which makes the loss of these dogs feel even more personal. When we take in a senior or a critically ill dog, they are not sitting in a kennel. They are living in a home, sleeping on a bed, and eating fresh, meat-based meals. They are part of a family.
This is why we advocate so strongly for senior adoption. A dog who has spent years on the streets or in an abusive situation learns what love is in their final chapter, and that transformation is profound. It hurts to lose them, but the alternative is them passing away alone, cold, and hungry.
If you are considering adoption, please look past the puppies. Open your heart to a senior dog. Even if you only get a year or two with them, you are giving them the only home they have ever truly known. Every dog featured here was a fighter, and their memory drives us to keep saving more lives, one Indie at a time.
PL Paws
We are just a group of friends in Bengaluru, not a facility with cages. We pour our hearts into giving rescued dogs a real home, believing that every animal deserves to be loved and fed fresh, healthy food, regardless of how much time they have left.
