De-shedding Services for Heavy Coated Breeds
If your dog is a heavy shedder, a regular brush isn't enough to handle the Bangalore heat. We provide deep, manual de-shedding sessions at our home to keep your pet cool and comfortable.
The results of a proper de-shedding session on a German Shepherd. Removing this much dead undercoat is essential for the dog's skin health and comfort, especially in Bangalore's weather.
We start the grooming process for this Siberian Husky with an intensive brushing session. This is crucial for managing their thick double coat before their bath.

This video shows our complete process for a Labrador. We start with brushing, move to a full wash, and finish with a power dryer that helps blow out the remaining loose fur for a sleek finish.

About De-shedding for Heavy Coated Breeds
Getting all that loose undercoat out is not just about reducing hair on your sofa. For breeds like Huskies, German Shepherds, and Retrievers, it is about letting their skin breathe, especially during the hotter months here. We spend over two hours manually raking and carding to pull out the dead fur before we even touch the shampoo, so your dog does not develop uncomfortable hot spots later.
Our De-shedding Process
Most grooming centres rush through the bath, but for heavy coats, the real work happens before the water even turns on. Here is how we handle it at our home studio in Kalkere:
- The Dry Brush: We start with intensive dry brushing using rakes and curry brushes. This is where we remove the bulk of the impacted undercoat that a standard brush just cannot reach.
- The Deep Wash: Once the loose fur is out, we use a vigorous scrub to ensure shampoo reaches the skin through thick, water-resistant coats. We use conditioner to loosen any remaining dead hair.
- High-Airflow Drying: After the bath, we use high-airflow dryers. This is crucial for double-coated breeds to prevent moisture from getting trapped, which is a common cause of skin infections.
- The Final Finish: We end with a final carding session to catch any stray hairs that loosened up during the drying process.
Why it matters for your dog
When loose undercoat stays trapped, it blocks airflow to your dog's skin. This makes them feel hotter than they need to, leads to matting, and often causes that 'wet dog' smell to linger longer than it should. Whether you have a Golden Retriever who tracks fur everywhere or a Husky who needs help staying cool, we take our time to get it right. We work in a home environment, so there are no scary cages or loud industrial dryers to stress them out.
