About this collection

You do not need to know how to draw to nail this. In my studio, we focus on the rhythm of the work, rolling the clay, setting the mirrors, and getting that texture just right. I provide the 12-15 inch MDF base and all the tools, so you do not have to hunt for supplies. You will walk out with a varnished, finished piece that is ready to hang on your wall, whether you choose a geometric pattern or a floral design.

How Our Workshop Works

Lippan art, often called mud and mirror work, is a traditional craft from Kutch that has moved from village walls into modern home decor. In my Whitefield studio, we bring this art form to life in a single session. I use durable polymer clay or ceramic paste for the relief work, which ensures your art lasts and doesn't crack over time.

What You Will Learn

  • Surface Prep: We start with a 6mm to 8mm thick MDF board, primed and ready for your design.
  • Clay Technique: Learn the pressure required to roll and apply clay lines to create 3D patterns.
  • Mirror Placement: We use various shapes of glass mirrors—round, diamond, and teardrop—to add that signature shine to your piece.
  • Finishing: Once the clay dries, we paint it with high-quality acrylics and apply a top-coat varnish. This protects your work from dust and moisture, making it perfect for your living room or entryway.

Why Join?

People often come in saying they cannot draw a straight line, and they leave with a piece they are proud to hang up. It is a slow, meditative process. Whether you want to recreate a traditional motif or try something abstract, I am there to guide you through the process, from the first clay roll to the final mirror placement. Everything you need is included in the fee, so you just have to show up and create.
