A close-up of a finished Lippan art piece with a floral mandala design. Notice how the combination of bright turquoise, yellow, and pink paint with carefully placed mirrors creates a vibrant, eye-catching effect.
This sample piece shows a more geometric approach to Lippan art. The bold red background contrasts with the white clay work and reflective mirrors, demonstrating a different style you can explore in the workshop.

About Lippan Art: Traditional Mud & Mirror Craft
Lippan art is all about the feel—rolling the clay, placing the mirrors just so, and watching the pattern come together. In my workshops, I guide you through drafting your own geometric mandala, so you aren't just copying a design, you are making it yours. You will walk away with a durable, ready-to-hang piece that actually reflects your vibe.
If you have not worked with Kutch mud and mirror art before, do not worry. This is one of the most forgiving and therapeutic crafts I teach. We work with a 10 to 12 inch MDF board, high-quality ceramic dough, and assorted glass mirrors. I show you how to roll the dough into consistent coils and how to space the mirrors so the light catches them just right. It is a slow, methodical process that really clears the head.
These sessions run for 3 to 4 hours, which gives us plenty of time to get messy, chat, and actually finish the piece properly. I bring all the materials—aprons, mirrors, dough, and adhesive—so you just need to show up ready to create. Whether you are looking for a weekend activity or a creative team-building session for your office, these workshops are designed to be low-pressure. You do not need to be an expert to make something beautiful. We keep the energy relaxed so you can focus on the clay and your own creative process.
