My music is a dialogue passed down through generations. These moments capture the essence of my learning under Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji.

A blessing from my Guruji, Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji, after a performance. This moment is more valuable than any applause. His guidance is the foundation of my musical journey.

A candid moment of learning from my Guruji. Just being in his presence is a lesson in itself. The knowledge he shares is priceless.

A cherished photograph with my Guruji, Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji, and my gurubhais. Learning together as part of a musical family is a true blessing.

A wide view from a Gurupurnima celebration performance. Seeing an audience, young and old, sitting together and absorbed in the music is an incredibly humbling and motivating experience.

A humble musical offering on the birth anniversary of Ustad Alla Rakha, or 'Abbaji', my Guruji's Guru. I am playing a traditional composition in Teentaal to honor his immense contribution to the world of tabla.

About My Guru, My Foundation

When I perform, I do not just show up and play. I make it a point to coordinate with the main artist and the sound engineer at least an hour before the show. This time is crucial for me to match the Dayan pitch to the scale of the performance, ensuring that the sound is balanced and the rhythm is crisp, whether we are in a large auditorium or a cozy living room.

The journey of a musician is never linear. Under the guidance of my Guruji, Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji, I have learned that the Punjab Gharana is not just a style of playing, but a way of listening and interacting with the melody. Whether I am providing 'sangat' (accompaniment) for a vocalist or performing a solo recital, my priority remains the same: to listen to the room and the other artists.

The Guru-Shishya Parampara

This tradition is the bedrock of my life. It is not merely about learning compositions; it is about humility and understanding the history behind every 'bol' (rhythmic syllable) I play. My riyaz is constant, a daily practice that keeps me grounded and prepares me to face the audience with honesty. When you see me perform, you are seeing the result of hours spent at the feet of my teacher, learning how to let the tabla speak.

Performance Philosophy

I believe that music should be accessible, yet deep. For private baithaks or intimate gatherings, I enjoy the raw, acoustic experience where no microphones are needed. It allows for a more personal connection with the listeners. For larger festival stages, I focus on precision and dynamic control to ensure the rhythm reaches everyone clearly. If you are looking for someone to bring an authentic, classically-trained sound to your event, I am here to share that experience with you.

I am a student of rhythm, constantly finding new ways to express the traditional Punjab Gharana style I learned from my Guruji. Whether I am supporting a vocalist or performing a solo recital, I look for a deep, honest musical connection with the audience.
