About Artistic Silhouettes & Backlit Portraits
To get that crisp silhouette edge while keeping your expressions visible, I use precise strobe lighting in my Sarjapur studio. These sessions often involve composite editing, especially for my signature moon themes, to blend the background seamlessly with your pose. Because we are playing with contrast, the posing is more about form and movement than traditional smiling for the camera.
There is something inherently powerful about removing color and detail to focus on form. My silhouette and backlit sessions are designed for those who want a more artistic, moody, and timeless aesthetic. Whether it is a maternity shoot celebrating the curve of the bump or a family portrait capturing the bond between parents and children, these images rely on high-contrast lighting to tell a story.
In my Bangalore studio, I work with both white and black backgrounds to control the light fall-off. For the popular moon-backlit portraits, I use a combination of professional lighting and digital artistry to place you within that scene. This is not just a standard portrait; it is a creative collaboration.
If you are planning a session, remember that silhouettes require a specific kind of body language. During the shoot, I provide hands-on direction to help you place your hands, tilt your head, or position your profile so that we define the shape clearly against the light. These sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes, allowing us enough time to settle in, experiment with different poses, and ensure we get the perfect interplay of shadow and glow.
