Editorial and Conceptual Fashion Photography
I craft fashion narratives that prioritize concept and mood over trends. My approach uses traditional darkroom techniques to bring raw, cinematic intensity to your editorial lookbooks and campaigns.
A significant photograph from my archives, this was my first fashion shoot in 1993 with the legendary designer Rohit Khosla. It features supermodels Mehr Jesia, Aparna Chandra, and Anupama Verma, marking a key moment in Indian fashion history.
A high fashion studio portrait showcasing an intricate, floor-length coat by Nighat Izhar Designs. The powerful stance and dramatic lighting are central to this editorial look, blending traditional gold embroidery with a modern silhouette.
An edgy, conceptual fashion shot in black and white featuring a leather ensemble. I used a mirror and dynamic hair movement to create a sense of duality and energy, perfect for a bold editorial story.
A conceptual black and white shoot for a corporate fashion line. The symmetrical, mirrored composition creates a striking and modern visual for showcasing professional womenswear.
A classic black and white fashion triptych, playing with different angles and poses. This series highlights a striped dress and hat, demonstrating a timeless, European-inspired fashion aesthetic.
About Editorial & Conceptual Fashion
When we shoot for your brand or editorial, my focus is strictly on the visual concept. I treat every frame like a darkroom print, avoiding heavy filters to ensure the final image feels authentic and cinematic. We plan the mood, lighting, and narrative before we ever step onto the set to ensure the final output serves your specific brand identity.
My work in editorial and conceptual fashion is grounded in the belief that a photograph should convey a story rather than just display a product. Whether we are producing a high-end magazine editorial or a lookbook for a new collection, the process starts with defining a clear narrative.
My Technical Approach
I reject the trend of over-editing. Instead, I rely on classic, in-camera techniques—utilizing cinematic lighting setups with snoots, reflectors, and vintage props—to create depth. My post-production process mimics traditional darkroom work, using manual dodging and burning to balance light and shadow rather than relying on digital shortcuts.
The Production Process
Collaborating with you is essential. We will define the visual theme beforehand, whether that involves creating a moody, noir-inspired series or a bright, high-fashion campaign. I bring a full production team, including professional stylists, hair and makeup artists, and lighting assistants, to ensure every detail from the garment draping to the model's posing is precise.
For commercial campaigns, I manage 8-hour productions that cover 30-plus garments, delivering high-resolution images ready for print or web usage. We focus on highlighting fabric textures, embroidery, and jewelry details, ensuring the final assets are commercially viable while maintaining the artistic standard of a gallery print.
