About Portraits of Note
When I photograph a subject, I am looking for the narrative behind their expression. I avoid the rigid constraints of a typical studio setup, preferring to guide the subject into a state where they are comfortable and present. This approach is why my portraits, whether of a political leader or a private client, feel authentic rather than posed.
My portraiture is grounded in the tradition of classic, fine art photography. I do not rely on digital presets or aggressive retouching to create an image. Instead, I use lighting and composition to reveal the character of the individual. This is a technical process that involves carefully managing light and shadow to add depth, a method inspired by traditional darkroom techniques like dodging and burning.

Whether it is a black and white portrait or a high-end colour session, the goal remains the same: to produce a timeless image. I limit the use of technology to ensure that the final print retains a natural, human quality.
