Cinematic & Editorial Portrait Photography
I don't just take pictures; I build a world. These frames move beyond the surface to catch the raw, atmospheric moments that define high-end editorial storytelling.
A key example of my cinematic lighting style. We used a single, hard light source to create this artificial sunbeam, bathing actress Dipannita Sharma in a warm, story-rich glow.
This high-fashion, conceptual portrait is pure sartorial rebellion. Shot in a car at night, the vibrant colors and avant-garde styling create a powerful editorial statement.
The cover shot for Artells magazine. This raw, black and white beach portrait captures a feeling of untamed beauty, perfect for a powerful magazine cover.
An intense, sun-drenched close-up from the "To the waters" editorial in Artells magazine, showing the raw texture of skin and freckles.
An atmospheric editorial portrait exploring the space between two people. The cool, unified color palette and the subjects' gazes create a narrative of quiet contemplation.
A black and white version of a couples portrait, emphasizing the emotional distance and connection through stark contrast and composition.
An outdoor portrait session by the sea. The overexposed background and the subject's direct gaze create a serene yet powerful mood.
A fashion portrait with a timeless, painterly quality. The composition and soft lighting elevate the image, making it feel like a classic piece of art.
A delicate and ethereal portrait, using a sheer fabric to partially obscure the face. This technique adds a layer of mystery and softness to the image.
A raw and intimate black and white portrait taken on the beach. The natural setting and the subject's direct look create a feeling of authentic connection.
About Cinematic & Editorial Stories
A great editorial shoot is never a solo act. On set, I bring in a full crew—stylists, makeup artists, and lighting techs—to build the mood from the ground up. We are not just taking portraits; we are sculpting light and narrative. Whether we are using a Fujifilm GFX 100 for magazine-grade detail or creating artificial sunbeams in a controlled studio, the goal is always to create a cinematic image that holds its own on any billboard or cover.
How We Build the Story
Photography for me is a dance between the subject, the gear, and the intention. When we work together on an editorial project, we start with a mood board to define the narrative—whether you want something noir, avant-garde, or raw and sun-drenched.
The Process:
- Concept Development: We don't just show up and shoot. We discuss your brand story, the intended medium (print, digital, or social), and the specific feeling we need to evoke.
- Technical Precision: I rely on medium format cameras and advanced lighting setups—like scrims and high-end modifiers—to ensure the skin textures are perfect and the depth is real.
- Team Effort: You don't have to worry about the logistics. My crew handles the styling, HMU coordination, and lighting, allowing you to focus on the performance.
Why Editorial Matters
Commercial portraits are about clarity; editorial stories are about feeling. I love capturing that specific tension in a gaze or the way light catches a silhouette. This is why I prefer shooting with a tethered workflow when possible—we look at the monitor in real-time, adjust the mood, and keep going until we find that one frame that tells the whole story. If you are ready to move away from cookie-cutter photos and want to create something with lasting impact, we should talk.
