Inside Our Music Studio & Teaching Method
A look at the Nathaniel School of Music philosophy. We don't just teach you to play, we teach you to understand the music.
In every class, my goal is to immerse students in the music, encourage them to learn the 'why' behind the notes, and empower them to create. This is where the real learning happens.
I designed our Music Method course to be a complete journey in musicianship. This isn't just about learning an instrument; it's a six-month program covering modular lessons, music theory, ear training, and practical workshops like our Music Gym and Music Factory to help you find your unique sound.
About From the Studio
We believe in musicianship over memorization. When you join, you don't just pick up an instrument. You start by dissecting the music you love, from Western pop to Indian classical, to understand the theory and rhythm behind it. This is why our 'Music Factory' and 'Music Gym' are the core of our studio time.
My goal with every student is to move past the basics of just reading sheet music. We built the 'Music Method' course to give you a complete picture of how sound works, which is why we spend so much time on theory and ear training alongside your instrument lessons.
Why Our Approach is Different
- Music Factory: This is our transcription class where we break down everything from Red Hot Chili Peppers drum grooves to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan aalaaps. You learn by doing, not just by listening to a lecture.
- Music Gym: Think of this as your technical workout. It focuses on the physical mechanics of playing while simultaneously building your improvisational skills and theoretical knowledge.
- Modular Learning: Whether you are focusing on piano, guitar, or vocals, our courses are designed in modules. This lets you build a personalized curriculum that matches your current skill level, whether you are an absolute beginner or looking to advance your existing technique.
We operate out of our centers in Langford Town and Sahakar Nagar, but we also host live, interactive sessions online. Every student gets access to HD recordings and my handwritten notes, so you can practice effectively even after the class ends. If you are serious about understanding the 'why' behind the music and want to become a complete musician, this is the place for you.
