About Published Editorials
Editorial work requires a distinct production flow. Unlike standard portrait sessions, these shoots rely on a coordinated team—stylists, makeup artists, and creative directors—to build a specific visual narrative. Before we start, we establish the mood, select the location, and align on the aesthetic, whether it is a clean studio look or an environmental shoot. If you are planning an editorial piece, the focus should be on building a story that translates across both print and digital platforms.
When shooting for editorial features, my priority is the technical execution of the concept. Each project shown here was built through a pre-shoot phase that involved mood-boarding and site reconnaissance. Whether it is a feature for Grazia India or a conceptual spread for Flanelle Magazine, the process remains the same: I manage the lighting, frame composition, and team direction to ensure the final assets are publication-ready.
The Collaborative Process
Great editorial imagery is rarely the work of one person. I function as the visual director, but the outcome depends on:
- Styling and Art Direction: I collaborate with stylists to source fabrics, props, and textures that match the editorial tone.
- Hair and Makeup (HMUA): Detailed coordination with makeup artists ensures the look aligns with the lighting setup, whether we are using harsh strobes or natural light.
- Location and Environment: We select venues that serve the narrative, from vintage interiors for a lifestyle feature to minimalist studios for high-fashion portraits.
Technical Approach
My style is grounded in control. For campaign shoots and editorial stories, I often utilize tethered shooting to monitor image quality in real-time, allowing for immediate adjustments to posing and lighting. I blend digital precision with an artistic sensibility, ensuring the final output is sharp, cinematic, and distinct.
