Our Architectural Process: From Concept to Construction
Architecture is more than just a floor plan. It is a journey from the first conceptual sketch and site analysis to the final concrete structure.
Every project begins with a line. This video shows the evolution of a building's façade, from a simple concept sketch of a wave-like pattern to a 3D render and finally to the concrete structure taking shape on site.
My team and I are always on the move, and design happens everywhere, even on a flight. This video shows one of my associate architects sketching a concept, followed by scenes of site visits and the final rendered building, illustrating our process from drawing board to reality.
This diagram explains the form development and environmental strategy for a commercial building. It shows how we staggered the massing, oriented the building to control sun exposure, and used a modern jaali as a shading system to reduce energy consumption.
These diagrams illustrate the evolution of an organic façade for a commercial building. The process moves from developing a language of curves to breaking it with horizontal members, and finally to creating a perforated screen that reduces solar heat gain.
This video shows the form development for a residential structure with a "natural skin." The design process involved splitting the mass, creating voids for green spaces, and shaping the building to respond to its environment, creating a symbiosis between nature and architecture.
This animation demonstrates the urban planning strategy for a mixed-use project. It shows how we divided the site, allocated space for retail and parking, and then placed two residential towers with stepped terraces to maximize views and create vertical green spaces.
These diagrams show how we designed a commercial complex in Goa by responding to the site's natural slope. By creating multiple entry levels, we made the space more dynamic and accessible, seamlessly integrating the building with its topography.
A good section drawing tells the truth of a building. This sectional drawing reveals the floor-to-floor logic, light penetration through a central atrium, and the human scale of a residential project, demonstrating how we embed sustainability into the very form of the structure.
This image combines a render with a sectional drawing to show how a building breathes. The section reveals the passive cooling strategy, with a wind catcher promoting natural ventilation, while the render shows the final aesthetic of the terracotta façade.
This render shows the 3D model of a jewellery showroom with a faceted, diamond-inspired façade. The design process involved creating a complex, angular form that would serve as a sculptural landmark.
About The Architectural Process: From Vision to Reality
Architecture goes beyond just a beautiful facade. It is the bridge between a conceptual sketch and a functional, standing structure. My team and I focus on diagnostic design—using detailed sectional drawings, climate-responsive layouts, and rigorous site supervision to ensure the building we plan on paper is exactly the building that comes to life on your site.
At MQA, we see every project as a conversation with the land. Whether it is a cramped Mumbai plot or a sprawling township, our process is built on site-centric architecture. We start by analyzing topography, sun paths, and local wind patterns. This isn't just for aesthetics; it is to ensure passive cooling and natural light are built into the structure's DNA.
When we move from the concept to the drawing board, we focus on technical accuracy. A good section drawing is a diagnostic tool for us. It reveals floor-to-floor logic, structural interplay, and MEP routing, which prevents construction delays. We do not just provide 3D renders; we create a complete set of 'Good for Construction' (GFC) documents. This ensures your contractor has exactly what they need to build without guesswork.
Finally, we stay involved. I believe the designer should be on-site. From managing consultants to auditing material quality and conducting regular site diaries, we bridge the gap between design and reality. If you are looking for an architectural team that prioritizes utility, dignity, and sustainability over cookie-cutter designs, let's talk.
