Advanced Canine Behaviour & Dog Training Workshops
Move beyond basic commands and truly understand the psychology behind canine behaviour. These intensive masterclasses are for owners and aspiring trainers who want to tackle the tough stuff: reactivity, aggression, and building the right relationship.
For dog trainers and serious enthusiasts, I offer my "Beyond the Basics" seminar. This intensive, two-day program dives deep into advanced topics like reactivity, resource guarding, E-collar conditioning, and effective client communication. It's about sharing the knowledge I've gained over 13 years in the field.
It's disheartening to see entire breeds being banned. We created these dogs for specific purposes, and now we punish them for their genetics. Responsible ownership and training are the answers, not breed-specific legislation.
I recently had a great conversation on "The Gut Feel Show" about what it really takes to be a dog owner. We discussed everything from behavior and adoption to the impact dogs have on our mental health.
Watch this before getting a dog! My episode on "The Gut Feel Show" is a must-watch for anyone considering adding a dog to their family. I share essential information to help you make the right decision.
A snippet from my appearance on the podcast, where I talk about how dogs positively impact our mental health. The simple act of petting a dog releases oxytocin and serotonin, and their need for a routine helps us stay active and present.
About Beyond the Basics: For the Serious Enthusiast
These seminars are not just about reading theory; they are about real-world application. Whether you are dealing with a reactive dog or trying to build a career in training, we focus on the hardest parts: muzzle conditioning, e-collar nuance, and the uncomfortable but necessary 'human' side of client management. You leave these sessions with a clear, actionable plan, not just notes.
Why I keep these sessions small
I intentionally cap my Masterclass at 4 students. When you are dealing with severe behavioural issues like resource guarding or dog-to-dog reactivity, there is no room for 'general' advice. You need to see the nuances of pressure, timing, and reinforcement in action. In a group of four, I can give everyone the attention they need to actually practice the mechanics.
The Human Side of Training
Most people think dog training is just about the dog. It isn't. The biggest challenge in this field is often the human at the other end of the leash. During day two of the workshop, we pull back the curtain on client management. We cover how to handle the intake process, how to explain complex concepts like E-Collar conditioning without confusing the owner, and how to manage the expectations of a client who might be anxious or overwhelmed.
What to Expect
This is an intensive, hands-on environment. You will be working with demo dogs, practicing mock client sessions, and learning how to read subtle body language cues that most people miss. We don't shy away from the difficult topics—aggression, bite history, and the emotional toll of this work are all on the table. My goal is to ensure that by the time you leave, you have the confidence to handle the unpredictable nature of behaviour rehabilitation, whether you are a pet parent looking to help your own dog or a trainer looking to sharpen your skills.
