Stylized & Expressive Portraits by Megha
I explore human identity through bold colors, abstract features, and strong, evocative figures. Whether it's a piece for your collection or a custom commission, my work captures the emotion beneath the surface.
This framed portrait, created with poster colors, shows how my art can bring a touch of warmth and personality to any space. I focused on creating a gentle expression with floral elements woven into the hair.
This watercolor portrait is inspired by the beauty of tribal adornment and culture. Displayed in a home setting, it shows how a powerful, original painting can become the focal point of a room.
A watercolor portrait with a striking orange and blue color combination, shown here framed and hung. This piece has been sold, but it's a great example of the kind of bold, contemporary portraiture I love to create.
"Sometimes there is such beauty in awkwardness." This acrylic portrait on canvas plays with vibrant, contrasting colors and a strong, direct gaze to capture a unique form of beauty.
A playful piece where I experimented with a monochromatic blue palette and vacant eyes for a surreal effect. This watercolor painting shows my love for creating stylized male portraits with a twist.
This watercolor painting features a woman in profile, using a limited palette of blue and red to create a dramatic, high-contrast effect. This piece is now sold.
An angled view of my sold blue and red watercolor portrait, highlighting the flow of the hair and the simple color scheme.
About this collection
When you commission a portrait, I don't just trace a reference photo. I build the piece using a specific medium—like heavy-body acrylics for 3D impasto texture or high-pigment watercolors—to match the emotion we are chasing. If you're deciding between a gallery-wrapped canvas or a framed paper piece, think about where it is going; my textured canvas works handle humidity changes better and arrive ready to hang, while my watercolor pieces offer a delicate, paper-bound finish that pairs beautifully with minimalist frames.
Why I Paint Portraits
I’ve always felt that standard, photorealistic portraits miss the point. For me, painting is about capturing the energy of a person—their internal world, their vibe, their story. That is why you will see me playing with surreal color palettes, like striking blue skin tones or vibrant orange backgrounds. I want the art to make you feel something, not just look like a photograph.
My Mediums and Approach
I switch between mediums based on what the painting demands:
- Watercolors & Gouache: These are perfect for paper-based portraits. I use 300 GSM acid-free paper to ensure they last. These pieces are delicate, clean, and highly detailed.
- Acrylic Impasto: When a piece needs weight and soul, I use palette knives to layer heavy-body acrylics. This creates physical 3D texture you can actually touch. These are done on gallery-wrapped canvas, so they are sturdy, resistant to humidity, and do not require additional framing.
Getting a Custom Portrait
I love working on custom commissions. Whether you want a wedding portrait with a twist, or you want to see yourself through my 'trippy' cosmic lens, the process is simple. You share the photo or the memory, and I interpret it. We start with a concept, discuss the mood, and then I get to work. Every piece is hand-signed and comes with a bit of my own creative obsession poured into it. If you have an idea that feels a bit wild or 'convoluted,' that is exactly the kind of project I want to work on.
