About Living Room Seating: Sofas, Daybeds & Benches
Each sofa or daybed I build starts with selecting the right seasoned wood, usually solid teak or white oak. You choose the dimensions, the fabric, and the weave pattern for any cane detailing. I build every frame from scratch using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, avoiding the exterior screws or particle board you find in mass-produced items, which ensures your seating stays solid for years.
Why Handcrafted Seating
Most sofas found in showrooms rely on plywood or engineered wood, which often sags after a few years of regular use. My approach is different. I use seasoned Marandi or Neem hardwood for internal frames, ensuring termite resistance, and finish the exteriors with solid CP teak or premium white oak. This creates a sturdy foundation that actually supports your back.
Customization and Design
You do not have to pick from a static catalogue. If you have a specific space, I can adjust the length, depth, and armrest height to fit. Whether you are looking for a sleek Pierre Jeanneret replica, a mid-century modern lounge set, or a traditional cane daybed for your veranda, I work with you to nail the details.
The Build Process
When you place an order, I keep you in the loop with updates as the wood is cut, the frame is assembled, and the final polish is applied. This way, there are no surprises when the piece arrives at your door.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of wood do you use? I primarily work with CP teak for its durability and grain, though I also source white oak and ash for specific design aesthetics.
Can I choose my own fabric? Yes. I include standard velvet, chenille, or poly-blend fabrics. If you want to use a premium boucle, linen, or specific leather, just let me know during the planning phase.
How long is the delivery time? Because every piece is handmade to order in my Oshiwara workshop, production and shipping take between 2 and 6 weeks.
Is there a warranty? Yes. Every piece comes with a 5-year warranty against structural manufacturing defects.
