About The Art of Makeup: Thematic Shoots
These thematic shoots are about more than just a pretty face. They are about mood and storytelling. Whether I am working on a deep, royal look for Varamahalakshmi or a soft, radiant glow for Diwali, I focus on how the light hits the skin. I use high-pigment palettes that hold up against heavy studio lighting, ensuring the colors pop exactly as you see in these frames without looking cakey or overdone.
When I step into a studio for a thematic shoot, my approach changes from what I do for a client's wedding day. For these sessions, I lean into drama and artistic intent.
Creating the Look
For the Varamahalakshmi looks, we focus on regal, traditional elements. This means using rich, warm tones that complement gold temple jewellery and traditional silk sarees. I focus on defined eyes and a bold lip to ensure the look carries that divine energy.
For Diwali shoots, it’s all about warmth. I use products from brands like MAC and Huda Beauty to create a 'lit-from-within' glow that plays beautifully with the ambient light of diyas.
Why Thematic?
I use these shoots to experiment with techniques I then teach in my academy in Basaveshwar Nagar. It allows me to test how different bases, like airbrush or dewy HD, react to specific lighting conditions.
