Behind the Art: My Creative Journey and Process

I’m peeling back the curtain on my creative process. From the mess of fluid art to the texture of my heart series, here’s a look at how I turn stories into paint.

In this video, I talk about my journey as an artist and the inspiration behind my 'Hearts Collection'. I share details about my upcoming workshops, live art stations, and a special crowdfunding project to bring art to kids.

A quick selfie before the fun begins at a SteppinOut event at the JW Marriott. I'm always so grateful and excited to be part of these vibrant gatherings.

About Behind the Art

The transition to textured abstract art wasn't just a technical shift, it was about finding depth. My acrylic pour work is fast, fluid, and unpredictable, but these textured pieces allow me to layer stories and emotion, like the heart motifs I started painting during the lockdowns. Whether I am at a corporate retreat or a brunch pop-up in Bengaluru, I bring this same intent to the easel.

For the last three years, my art journey has been a messy, honest attempt to find myself. It started with fluid art, which I still love for its chaotic energy and vibrant colors. But lately, I have been moving into textured abstract pieces. It is a different kind of challenge. You learn about color theory, how pigments behave when layered, and how to create balance in something that feels wild.

My live art stations are where I get to share this experience. It is not just about me painting. At events, like the ones I have done at JW Marriott, I set up a space for people to get their hands dirty. I manage all the prep, the canvas, the paints, and the aprons. You show up, we pour some colors, and you leave with something you made.

I also do live abstract commissions. If you want a piece that captures your story, tell me the vibe and the colors you want, and I paint it while you watch. It is vulnerable, sure, but it is real. My pricing for live events covers everything, including travel within the city. If you are curious about my process or want to book an interactive station for your next gathering, let's talk. I am always open to collaborations that feel right.

Hi, I'm Surekha. I stopped chasing social media likes and started chasing what actually feels real, which led me to this messy, beautiful life of painting. My work is less about being 'perfect' and more about feeling, and I am always down to bring that vibe to your next event or custom commission.
