Live Sparring and Ring Craft Training in Vidyaranyapura
Sparring is where technique meets reality. We step into the ring to test our timing, distance, and nerve under pressure—not to hurt each other, but to build a complete fighter.
I am giving instructions to two young fighters before they spar. I emphasize control, technique, and listening to my commands. This is about learning, not hurting each other.
I pause a sparring session to give technical feedback on footwork. "Your leg is going wrong," I explain. Correcting these small details is crucial for winning fights.
I am coaching a student during a tough sparring round. "Guard up! Listen to my voice only!" My job is to be their eyes and mind in the corner, guiding them through the fight.
I give tactical advice to a student between rounds. "He is fighting technically. You are rushing." Understanding strategy is as important as physical skill.
A student lands a clean jab during a sparring session. This is the result of drilling fundamentals until they become second nature.
Two students spar, working on their defense and counter-striking. The ring is our laboratory for testing techniques.
Two young fighters spar in the ring. Even at a young age, they learn discipline, respect, and the art of combat.
About this collection
Don't just swing for the fences. The biggest mistake beginners make is rushing to land a heavy punch, which leaves them wide open. In my sessions, we focus on controlled exchanges—learning to manage your distance, maintain your guard, and execute combinations without panic. You learn to spot the opening rather than forcing it.
The ring is a laboratory. In my gym, sparring isn't about proving who is stronger; it's about identifying the holes in your defense. When we step inside those ropes, the ego must stay outside. Whether we are drilling Muay Thai clinches, boxing footwork, or checking leg kicks, the goal is always precision.
The Training Philosophy
My sessions are rooted in the Guru-Shishya tradition. You are there to learn, not just to bleed. We maintain strict control because that is the only way to refine technique under stress. You will hear me shouting, 'Guard up, guard up!' because that is the foundation of survival. If you cannot block, you cannot fight.
What We Focus On
- Technical Sparring: We break down movements. I want you to execute a jab or a roundhouse kick with intent, not hope. We focus on biomechanics—how your hip rotation creates power, how your eyes should stay on your opponent, and how to maintain balance.
- Ring Intelligence: Fighting is as much mental as physical. I teach you to read your opponent, recognize when to clinch, and when to counter. You will learn to survive the full rounds, not just explode for the first thirty seconds and burn out.
Gear & Safety
We do not play. Gum shields, groin guards, and proper gloves are mandatory. If you are not geared up, you do not spar. This is about building fighters who can last, which means we respect the safety of our partners.
Madan Gowda
I'm Madan, and for me, the ring is a temple. I don't care if you're a total beginner or a pro; if you have the discipline, I will build you into a fighter. We train hard, we bleed together, and we grow together.
