Hands-On Learning & Life Skills for Preschoolers
We believe children learn best by doing, not watching. From messy science experiments to open-ended creative play, we create space for curiosity and problem-solving at our Kothanur and Thanisandra centers.
Loose parts play is even more delightful when a teacher joins in. This open-ended activity allows children to build, create, and imagine without limits, using a variety of materials to bring their ideas to life.
Loose parts play is where imagination knows no bounds. Using a collection of colorful blocks and objects, children are free to construct, deconstruct, and invent, developing fine motor skills and creative thinking.
We unleash creativity in the great outdoors with loose parts play. Natural and man-made objects become tools for invention, allowing children to explore concepts of design, balance, and function.
The great wall of letters isn't built in a day. Using colorful blocks, children learn phonics and letter recognition by physically building and arranging them, making literacy a hands-on game.
We are building bridges of knowledge with love, laughter, and creativity. Block play is more than just stacking; it's an exercise in problem-solving, balance, and imaginative construction.
Let's get crafty! Children express themselves through colors and shapes, using blocks and hula hoops to create their own patterns and structures on the floor.
Learning without limits, growing without boundaries. A child carefully stacks pink blocks, demonstrating focus and an understanding of size and balance in this self-directed activity.
Another moment of focused play, where a child builds a tower with pink blocks. This simple activity is a powerful tool for developing concentration, patience, and spatial awareness.
We engage preschoolers in counting and sorting games using everyday objects. This hands-on approach to math makes abstract concepts tangible and fun.
To blend or not to blend? That is the question! Our art sessions are a time for experimentation, where we mix more than just paints. We blend fun, creativity, and a tiny bit of beautiful chaos.
About Hands-On Learning & Life Skills
When you see children playing with loose parts, such as stones, blocks, and recycled bits, they aren't just making a mess. They are testing gravity, learning balance, and deciding for themselves how a structure stands up. This is the beginning of scientific thinking, guided by our educators who know exactly when to step in and when to let the frustration, and the eventual triumph, happen.
Learning Beyond Scripts
Traditional classrooms often rely on rigid, step-by-step instructions. At Little Red Hen, we take a different approach. Whether it is a flameless cooking session or a block-building challenge, our goal is to help your child think differently. We provide the materials and the safety, but the outcome—the 'what' and 'how'—is entirely up to them.
Why Process Matters More Than the Product
In our creative workshops, we focus on process art. It is not about painting the perfect picture; it is about the exploration of textures, mixing colours, and the act of creating. This approach builds resilience. A child who learns to 'mess up and try again' with paint will carry that same problem-solving mindset into their academic and personal life as they grow.
Our Approach to Life Skills
We integrate life skills into everything we do. Our literacy work happens through building 'walls' with letter blocks, and our math skills are sharpened through sorting games using everyday objects. By keeping our batches small—no more than 7 children—we ensure that every question is answered and every curiosity is encouraged.
We operate two distinct campuses in Bengaluru:
- Kothanur: Designed for sensory exploration and creative freedom.
- Thanisandra: A safe, nurturing space for early childhood development.
Whether you are looking for a weekend thematic workshop or a comprehensive skill-building camp, our activities are designed to make your child a little braver, a little messier, and a lot more confident.
Little Red Hen
We are a team of women who wanted more for our kids than just worksheets and scripted lessons. Since 2014, we have built a second home in Kothanur and Thanisandra where curiosity is the curriculum and every child's story is heard.
