About Kids' Birthday & Party Wear
Parents often worry about party dresses being uncomfortable after an hour, so my first priority is the inner lining. I use itch-free, pure cotton fabric for the inner layer of every frock, and I always include 2-3 inch margins inside. This way, if there is a growth spurt or if the dress needs a slightly looser fit for better movement while playing, you do not have to worry about the fit.
Designing for kids is my favorite part of the job. Unlike ready-made options, a custom frock from my studio is built for the specific event and the child's comfort.
The Construction Details
When designing these frocks, I focus on two main things: volume and wearability.
- Volume and Flare: To get that iconic silhouette, I use 5-8 meters of soft net or organza, layered with structural Can-can for a balloon-like flare that holds its shape.
- Comfort-First Lining: I use a soft, pure cotton inner lining for every dress. It keeps the skin safe from net or tulle, which is essential if your little one is going to be running around or wearing the dress for several hours.
- Smart Design: Kids grow fast, which is why I build in 2-3 inch margins. The back features a concealed zipper with a soft protective flap, so the hardware does not irritate their skin.
Custom Themes and Styles
Whether it is a specific color palette for a birthday party or a theme like Frozen or Barbie, I work with you to match the vision. I have made everything from onion-pink frill gowns to deep wine and red layered dresses for milestone birthdays. If you have an idea, we can discuss the fabric and embroidery, be it beadwork for the bodice or a specific ruffle style.
