About Our Guiding Principles: More Than Just Math
Before we start, your child takes a diagnostic test. This is not a pass or fail exam, but a way for me to find the 'just-right' level for them. By starting exactly where they feel comfortable, we build a foundation of confidence rather than frustration, ensuring they actually enjoy the process of learning.
Schools often teach according to grade levels, which can mean your child gets bored if they are advanced or feels left behind if they miss a concept. My approach is different. I focus on individual ability. If a child has gaps in their understanding, we go back and bridge them. If they are ready to move ahead, we let them progress.
This is the core of our daily practice routine. It is not about finishing a worksheet fast; it is about building a habit. When a student works on these materials every day, it stops being a chore and starts being a part of their day, like brushing their teeth. This consistency develops focus, discipline, and time management skills.
Many of the kids I work with tell me they no longer panic when they see a new math problem. They have the tools and the habit to figure it out themselves. That is the kind of self-reliance that helps them not just in math, but in every subject they tackle later.
