I bring idols to life with precise acrylic painting, focusing on realistic shading and intricate ornamentation to ensure your deity looks vibrant and divine for your home or festival setup.

A beautifully painted fiber murti of Goddess Saraswati for the festival of Dussehra. I focused on creating soft, divine features and highlighting the intricate details of her crown and ornaments with gold paint.

This video shows close-up shots of the painted Saraswati murti. You can see the fine details on her hands, the peacock, and the lotus she is seated on, all carefully painted to bring the idol to life.

About Detailed Idol Painting

When you bring your idol to my studio, I start by sanding and priming the surface to ensure the acrylic paints bond perfectly. I focus heavily on multi-layered skin shading and intricate eye detailing, while using specialized metallic accents for jewelry and Pitambar. Once the painting is complete, I apply a protective high-gloss or matte varnish, making your idol water-resistant and ready to withstand the humidity during your festivities.

My approach to idol painting is about capturing the right emotion. Whether it is a Ganpati for your home or a Devi for Navratri, I treat every idol as a canvas for devotion.

The Process

Every idol goes through a careful preparation phase. If you have an old idol that needs refurbishing, I start by carefully sanding away the worn layers and applying a fresh primer. For new idols, I ensure the base is smooth so the colors do not crack over time.

I specialize in:

  • Realism: Using layering techniques to create depth in facial features and expressions.
  • Detailing: Adding fine, metallic highlights to jewelry, crowns, and clothes, making the idol stand out under home or pandal lighting.
  • Protection: The final varnish is crucial. It protects the vibrant pigments from dust and moisture, ensuring the idol stays in good condition throughout the festival and beyond.

Important Logistics

I offer this service at my studio in the Mumbai Metropolitan Area.

  • Drop-off Service: Please note that I do not offer on-site painting for idols. You will need to drop off your idol at my studio and pick it up once it is ready.
  • Timeline: Depending on the size and complexity of the detailing, the process usually takes a few days. I prefer to take my time rather than rush, ensuring the finish meets my standards.

If you have a specific vision for your idol, feel free to share it when you reach out. I enjoy adding cultural touches or specific color palettes that match your home decor or festival theme.

I am Karishma. To me, painting an idol is more than a service, it is a part of my daily bhakti. I focus on bringing the features to life, from the shimmer of the jewelry to the expression in the eyes, so that your Bappa or Devi feels truly divine in your space.
