About Live In The Mix: On The Decks & On The Mic
When you book my 'Block Party' package, you aren't just getting a playlist. I arrive an hour early to run a full sound check, bringing my own wireless Shure mic and a digital sampler to mix in live freestyle rap over the beats. I read the room in real time, shifting from warm-up grooves to peak-hour bangers based on the crowd's energy so the flow never breaks.
My setup is designed for impact. Whether I am at a spot like Raasta or a private house party in Gurgaon, I rely on a professional Pioneer DDJ controller and my MacBook Pro with Serato DJ Pro. I do not use pre-recorded sets. Every transition is manual, and every rap verse is performed live.
For the 'OG Vibe' DJ only package, I keep it focused on the classics like Old School Hip Hop, R&B, and Funk. This is for when you want the music to be the conversation starter. For the 'Block Party' experience, I step out from behind the booth. I bring a wireless mic to host, hype, and spit original verses in Hindi and English. I have been doing this since 2002, so I know how to handle the flow of a night, from the first drink to the final track.
Requirements for the Best Sound
- PA System: A high-quality sound system with monitors is a must. If the speakers are weak, the vocal clarity on the mic goes flat.
- Workspace: A sturdy 4ft by 2ft table near a power source is perfect.
- Consultation: I always prefer a quick pre-event chat to lock in your 'Must Play' and 'Do Not Play' lists.
