Community Dog Welfare, Rescue, and Advocacy in Delhi NCR
We are a grassroots foundation in Delhi NCR working to give community dogs the dignity they deserve. From daily feeding to medical rescue and legal battles against cruelty, here is our work.
This is why we do what we do. We found Brownie as a bag of bones with her pups during the floods. This video shows her transformation after our intervention. She is now sterilized, vaccinated, and thriving in her own territory.
A glimpse into our sterilization drives. Here, our team is carefully and humanely catching a female dog to take her to a private clinic for surgery. This is a crucial step in managing the street dog population with compassion.
The best part of our work. This is a happy release, where a healthy dog is returned to her territory after successful sterilization and post-operative care. Seeing them run free and safe is our biggest reward.
The reality on the ground in the Mayur Vihar flood plains. We found a huge population of unsterilized dogs here. Our first step is always to start feeding and build trust before we can begin sterilization and vaccination efforts.
This is the proof of the system we are fighting. An RTI reply from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi shows the huge budgets allocated for sterilization versus the amount actually spent. We hold them accountable because our dogs deserve better than corrupt, inhumane government centers.
Awaara nahi, hamara hai. We organized this community protest to stand up against cruelty and demand better implementation of animal welfare laws. Our voices together are powerful, and this is a fight for the rights of every community dog.
About Featured
Unlike standard government shelters, we exclusively use private veterinary clinics for every sterilization. This ensures that every dog undergoes mandatory pre-surgery blood profiling, receives sterile anesthesia, and gets a safe recovery period before returning to their known home territory. We prioritize health and dignity over mass population control.
Our work begins with a fundamental shift in perspective: Awaara nahi, hamara hai. We do not view community dogs as strays, but as neighbours who are part of our collective. When we found a dog like Brownie—a bag of bones in the flood plains—we did not just treat her. We rehabilitated, vaccinated, and returned her to her territory where she is now thriving. This is the difference our community-led approach makes.
We actively avoid state-run animal birth control (ABC) units because we have documented the inhumane conditions and fund mismanagement within those systems. By keeping our processes private, we maintain control over the standards of care. Every procedure includes Ovariohysterectomy or Castration performed by professionals using gas anesthesia and quality sutures. We never separate mothers from pups, and we follow strict guidelines on age and health before any surgery.
Feeding is our primary tool for health monitoring. By preparing fresh, nutritious meals daily for over 700 dogs, we build trust, making it possible to conduct sterilization and vaccination drives without traumatizing the animals. We use humane catching methods like nets, never cruel iron tongs.
Our commitment extends into the courtroom and the streets. We file police complaints against abusers, challenge administrative corruption through RTI, and organize protests to demand better implementation of animal welfare laws. We are not just a service provider; we are a movement. When you support us, you are funding a fight for the rights of the voiceless in Delhi NCR.
